The maimai FLORiDA Community Tournament is all over now, and I'd like to reflect over the weekend, both with the community and event itself, as well as the production and some of the mishaps we had with it.

im sorry i didnt know you had a bsky i wouldve tagged D:
Lastly I just want to give the biggest shoutouts to those who helped me set this up: @rinr.online , catfxngs, Mark4447, and Concubus (i dont think the rest of them have bsky lol sry)
This weekend was fucking incredible, and I'd do it again in a heartbeat. Maybe over summer? Stay tuned.
Late in the stream we got a welcome surprise with @starrodkirby86.bsky.social hopping in! Definitely exciting to see the face of maimai in the US on our little stream (and yes, referencing our game capture issues too). And of course, thank you for the shoutout on Twitter as well.

We wanted to use real captures for the game, but we were unprepared for the ALLS not having the ports we thought, like the video for a side being DP, not HDMI.
We just used a headphone jack for the audio, which wasn't ideal, since volume changes meant bass boosting.

This was actually my first IRL event I've done tech for, everything over the past 5 years has been online. The graphics were built using NodeCG with a custom set picker for matches.
P2 cam was wired, with P1 being wireless using an iPad with vdoninja by xyster.

The event itself went nearly perfectly aside from some cab disconnect issues. And like I mentioned before, the whole thing was streamed! You can watch back the VOD on Twitch, and I'll have an edited highlight on YouTube in the next few days.

Of course this event wasn't possible without everyone from the flmai community coming down, about half of which came from the Jacksonville area!
Next tourney we'd like to host in CFL so that drive isn't as awful for them, maybe a rotation between north, south, central?

I want to give a huge thank you to the owners of Arcadia in West Palm Beach for letting us host the event, and with a full stream setup, even with two other parties scheduled for that day. If you're in WBP and are looking for an arcade to go to, be sure to check out there!

Edited VOD and long retrospective post coming soon, I am INCREDIBLY happy with how the tourney went and am 🤏 this close to starting to plan the next one.

also as a bonus I went on a day where I can spectate a @hungrybox.hbox.gg ATKO tournament lol so that was fun to watch
Now above 13,500 rate on maimai! Arcade Time Orlando got their cab updated to CiRCLE so now I can grind a full day for extremely cheap with their day pass.
Free play arcade near(ish) to me finally got their maimai updated to CiRCLE... Time to play 😈😈😈😈😈
And finally (for now) a preview for released setlist DLC/YARN Pack waves!
I do plan to have a whole separate set of branding and graphics for Setlist 2, making releases for that more unique compared to DLC's, collabs, or YARN Waves.
For those that have been following YARG for quite some time, yes these templates are pretty heavily based off old ones that we used, but I don't have access to those old ones so I had to remake them lol
Some new social graphics I'm working on for @yarg.in, currently got a preview for new setlist DLC's and YARN Packs, new feature previews for Nightly, and a more serious post if we ever need it!
There's only one month left to qualify for my maimai DX tournament!
