Though I agree with (and would even generalize) this grievance, and typically avoid "classical" arrangements - my guess is that this is simply so the audience recognizes it as "classical." Nevermind the fact that such musical features can and have been part of orchestral music for many years...

My goal is to make so much music that I eventually lose track and become uncertain if I've truly listened to my own full discography.
Consider taking advantage of it. And, though my catalogue is up there, I'd encourage you to "shop around" and enjoy the great depth and variety of art. Whether you buy it or not, allow it to perturb your neurons for awhile.
In a few hours #BandcampFriday starts - it is either a noble gesture from a sincere actor, or hollow posturing from a corporate pretender.
Or, most likely, a bit of both.
Regardless, it's an opportunity to support others, in a world where that is not commonly incentivized.
But for many artists, Bandcamp is still a pragmatic choice. It is a rare bridge between aesthete and mainstream, and still gives far more money to artists than most services.
One platform of some repute is Bandcamp. It is centralized, and has changed hands a few times of late, arguably to its detriment (leading to Faircamp).
It's a bit of a cliche that many posts here are about platforms - federated (Mastodon and friends) or otherwise. Being here at all means you *care* about things like that.
This is organic, without any real promo on my part (I'm behind on uploads even). The music also gets licensed giving me a cut (what I call "reed money") - sometimes for cool things like interactive art exhibits.
Jamendo is worth a look and listen.
Lots of chatter about music platforms going around, but just want to mention - I recently passed (over the course of ~10 years) 1.5 million listens on Jamendo, a platform oriented towards sharing and licensing CC music - www.jamendo.com/artist/47464...
Thanks to all who joined my @radiofreefedi #jazz #music #stream - great requests and vibes!

I hope you all have been following @radiofreefedi@musician.social and the ongoing party - it's been great seeing the Internet used for sharing joy and creativity around the world. party.radiofreefedi.net
I'll be playing live improvised music on it this Friday, July 18th, at 2200 UTC (3pm Pacific).
It's been awhile since I've streamed, looking forward to giving it a go. I'll be in the text chat for requests - note, requests should be for moods/ideas ("a hot summer night"), not specific songs.
Hope you join!

Every time I try to make an organ sound from scratch (i.e. setting drawbars) I somehow end up with "Take Me Out to the Ball Game."
Acapella clarinet improvisation - www.youtube.com/watch?v=q9Sb...
This seems like an ethics version of "would you rather fight a horse-sized duck or 100 duck-sized horses?"
Music is music is music is music is music is music is music, and finding music everywhere is exactly what music is.

I'm catching up on distributing my music with a proper distributor that uploads to YouTube (and elsewhere). This means I'll be able to share tracks that embed properly in Bluesky (since it still hasn't implemented Bandcamp).

There comes a point where the easiest thing to do is simply play - and it can be joyful, sorrowful, frivolous, and dire. But while it is all of these things, there is something it is not - amelioration. I should practice.
Featuring clarinet.

Thoughts continue - meander. Though seemingly less directed, there is a form of order. Wandering is simply a form of searching for something you don't yet know you're looking for.
Featuring improvised piano.
jazzaria.bandcamp.com/album/thogonal
Thogonal - or, how lines may independently proceed. Or, why angles vary regularly. Or, how contours crease liminal boundaries. Or, thogonal.
Featuring improvised piano.

Supposedly, (un)naturally, things are organized. Entropy strikes - coordination (de)creases. Branches span the structure-holding apertures. A larger picture emerges - formulaic, for some.
Featuring alto saxophone and reverb.

Молитва за Україну - Prayer for Ukraine. Featuring clarinet.
Originally released 3 years ago - sadly, still as relevant now as then.
jazzaria.bandcamp.com/album/regrowth
That which ceases often returns. Withering and growth are a pair - but the form of regrowth is not bound by the original, and can contain surprises.
Featuring strings, drum kit, piano, acoustic guitar, upright bass, flute, oboe, birds, and effects.

If you want to change the world, take it one step at a time:
The Right Amount of Purpose guides you while you make your climb.
Featuring percussion, acoustic guitar, upright bass, orchestral strings, brass, choir, organ, piano, violin, and effects.

There are many things to know about, many things to do -
Wrongs that must be righted, suff'ring to eschew.
Yet if one becomes overwhelmed, subscribes to everything,
Their efforts will be languished, and their misery will cling.
