I am so happy ro share that two members of Haplab, @didemkatircilar.bsky.social and @boracelebi.bsky.social have been honored for their outstanding Work-in-progress posters at World Haptics 2025 in Suwon!
With so many beautiful memories behind us, I’m sharing my favorite photos from the beautiful city of Suwon, and looking forward to building on these experiences! Many thanks to organizers, reviewers, and attendees for their time and feedback!
Good morning from Suwon 🇰🇷 Excited to be here for IEEE World Haptics 2025 ! :)
I will present our work today at 15.00 during WIP poster session, titled:
"The Power of Social Touch: Pleasantness is a Matter of Regularity"
w/ @boracelebi.bsky.social @kdrewing.bsky.social
If you're curious about what makes a gentle stroke feel pleasant in a social context, looking forward to meet you there! 🎊
Happy to present this work tomorrow at World Haptics in Applied Perception session between 13:30-15:00 (Convention Hall 1). 👋🏽⏳ Hope to see you there! @haplab.bsky.social @kdrewing.bsky.social
🗝️ Key findings:
* Lower amplitudes felt more pleasant and less arousing.
* Vibrations on the back were less arousing and more pleasant than on the front or both sides (front and back).
* The perceived intensity of vibration seems to play an important role in shaping emotional experiences.
Can vibrations on the torso evoke emotions? We explore this question in our recent publication w/ Nedim Goktepe & @kdrewing.bsky.social.

#IASAT in Jena was such a gem! Great to see so many people I met at Festival of Touch & make new connections. I'm looking forward to continuing conversations and building on these connections made. Looking forward to the next conference 🥳🫴🏽
In the meantime, let’s hug more often on Tuesdays 🫂
Great news! Today Mrunal came to HapLab Giessen to do her PhD thesis here on subliminal tactile perception. Soo exciting! Welcome Mrunal and looking forward to work together!
Excited to share that I’m co-organizing (w/ Nedim Göktepe) Haptic Materials from Physics to Perception workshop at World Haptics 2025 in Suwon, Korea!

Two truly inspiring days at INM-Leibniz Institute for New Materials! We exchanged ideas on human touch perception and materials science and looking forward to continuing future collaborations!🎊
Members of HapLab are having two marvellous days full of science, active touch and creative ideas at our partner lab INM Saarbrücken, Interaktive Oberflächen (Roland Benewitz). Soo fruitful and enjoyable!!!
We had wonderful time at #TeaP2025 @teap2025.bsky.social happy to be part of inspiring discussions with amazing people! Until next time ✨
Briefly, we investigated whether people learn to associate neutral vibration patterns with boredom and stress. If so, would this influence their time perception. Shortly, we showed associatively learned boredom but not stress modulates perceived time.
Tomorrow, I will present our work on time perception at @teap2025.bsky.social. @kdrewing.bsky.social @boracelebi.bsky.social
The weather in Frankfurt today was amazing, making it perfect for enjoying the welcome reception of the #TeaP2025 and meeting with colleagues after so long! ☀️
I’m so excited to present our work on how elasticity, hydration and finger pad size affect softness exploration and perception at the "Tactile and Time Perception" session tomorrow (March 10th) at 11.15. Hope to see you there! #RolandBennewitz @kdrewing.bsky.social @haplab.bsky.social #TeaP2025
