Under Trump, the NIH is giving fewer grants to fewer scientists. The grants awarded are smaller and scientists have less time to spend them.
Projects in cancer, diabetes, aging, neurological disorder, and more are going unfunded.
“Make America Healthy Again.”
This manuscript is now In Press in Cortex. Good job, Amy Lebkuecher!
@aaronlwong.bsky.social @laurelbuxbaum.bsky.social & @sthibault.bsky.social found that incongruence between tool & hand motions may exacerbate competition between motions of the hand & tool. Resolving this competition is challenging for people with #LimbApraxia.

‼️ This is absolutely absurd. Trump is actively manufacturing a crisis. The Pentagon just announced that he’s federalizing another 2,000 California National Guard troops bringing the total to 4,000, plus 700 active-duty Marines heading into LA. This is a military occupation, not public safety.
Research Saves Lives
At Hopkins, we just went live with an expansive website showing the extraordinary value of research, the impact of cuts to research, what's at stake, resources for our research community, etc.

Looking forward to my talk tomorrow!
The logo for the Association for Psychological Science (APS) is pictured in the top left. To the right, the APS 2025 Annual Convention logo is displayed. The convention will be May 22-25 in Washington DC. Below to the left, there is a photo of Dr. Amy Lebkuecher. On the right, the text reads, "Poster Session III - Research Proposal Posters, Using EEG to Examine Action Semantics in Primary Progressive Aphasia and Parkinson's Disease, Amy Lebkuecher, PhD, Friday May 23, 2025 | 12:30 pm - 1:30 pm ET, Jefferson Moss Rehabilitation Research Institute".
Make sure to catch Dr. Amy Lebkuecher & Dr. @laurelbuxbaum.bsky.social at the #APS2025 Annual Convention on May 23 (12:30–1:30 PM ET) presenting a poster on EEG evidence of action semantics in Primary Progressive Aphasia and Parkinson’s Disease. The poster is included in Poster Session III. 🧠📈 🧠🔄 👩🔬

Going to the #APS2025 Annual Convention? If so, don't miss @laurelbuxbaum.bsky.social's invited symposium presentation on the cognitive and neuroanatomic substrates of everyday actions on Saturday May 24, 2025 (1:30 PM - 2:50 PM ET).
Dr. Kalénine is standing at her poster and speaking with a workshop attendee about the research.
Solène Kalénine, a recent visiting Fulbright Scholar, shared research on the impact of gestures on word (re)learning in people w/ #stroke at the Workshop on Concepts, Actions, and Objects in Italy. The work was a collaboration w/ @laurelbuxbaum.bsky.social Buxbaum, Erica Middleton, & Shauna Zodrow.

Former postdoc Dr. Erica Barhorst-Cates, @laurelbuxbaum.bsky.social & @aaronlwong.bsky.social published a new paper examining determinants of navigation ability after #stroke. Their results emphasize the importance of using real-world contexts to assess navigation🧠🔄

The NSF has frozen all research grant awards—cutting off life-saving science midstream and demanding ideological screenings for future funding.

Welcome to Save The U.S. National Science Foundation A Girl Looking at a Physics Model TAKE ACTION Save NSF is a coalition of concerned scientists and allies who are working to save funding for scientific grants through the U.S. National Science Foundation. Our mission is to support and advocate for the continuation of vital research and innovation in various scientific fields. NSF funding is critical to this work. Join us in our endeavor to ensure a sustainable future for scientific exploration and discovery.
I am so heartened to this seriously AWESOME #SaveNSF website go up today!!!!
Has a take action toolkit with:
1. Press outreach templates
2. Social media toolkit
3. Elected official outreach
4. Talking points
Check it out and share widely!!!! Likely more to come.

Can confirm that my NSF grant "How False Beliefs Form & How to Correct Them" was cancelled today because it is "not in alignment with current NSF priorities" Shocking that understanding how people are misled by false information is now a forbidden topic. Our work will continue but at a smaller scale
