Today, the U.S. presented a resolution at the #UN attempting to define "gender" as "men" and "women." It was resoundingly defeated.
As Vidda Guzzo, Executive Director of Intersex Brazil, said, "This is not a win for just us #LGBTIQ people. This is a win for all."
It's up to all of us to ensure that LGBTIQ people everywhere can be safe, celebrated, & loved. Among other things, that requires supporting LGBTIQ causes & communities.

🇺🇳 Outright took it to the streets. 100+ people gathered outside the UN for a public demonstration - a joyful, defiant act of visibility at a moment when diversity and intersectionality are being actively erased inside the building.
🤍 Our message: All Genders. All Bodies. All Rights at #CSW70.
🇺🇳 The LBTI Caucus held "LBTI Bodily Autonomy and Justice." This session centered on the right to self-determination for LBTI women, exploring pathways to safety and justice from a global perspective - despite attacks.
🇺🇳 Outright convened a roundtable bringing together global activists, national parliamentarians, and city council members. They shared strategies for advancing progressive agendas in hostile political environments.
The message was clear: no matter where we are, we must keep organizing.
🇺🇳 Visa barriers kept 30% of countries of the world from reaching New York this year - impacting the African LBTIQ Caucus members. Advocates who made it to #CSW70 met in person while keeping their colleagues at home looped in, refusing to let barriers silence their voices.
🇺🇳 Outright's Maria Sjödin spoke at a side event hosted by the Mission of Mexico to the UN. She addressed a defining issue of this year's CSW: coordinated attacks on LGBTIQ human rights, gender equality, and reproductive rights, and the urgent need to defend hard-won human rights standards.
🇺🇳 The #CSW70 agreed conclusions passed - but not without historic dissent. For the first time in CSW history, the document was not passed by consensus. The United States cast the sole "no" vote, marking a clear turn in its position on global women's rights.
