despite some unfortunate audio quality, this first episode of the horton-kaiser report does a great job of unpacking life on the ground in Lebanon since the state of israel launched its latest round of brutal attacks—which locals think are the worst yet.

very good and accurate essay about what it feels like to live through genocidal whims, as real or not as they may be
Trump comes out against transvestigations
"It is not hope. It is the specific exhaustion of people who have been denied hope for so long that the mere postponement of catastrophe registers as reprieve. We celebrated nothing. We simply exhaled."
w/ Alt text to this very important reporting from Noah.
I think a lot about the public record, as a journalist and LIS student. Documentation of what is said in moments like these—from social media posts to emails—from those with power is essential to gather and preserve.
it's really so beside the point by now, but i cannot believe people gave this psychotic motherfucker a second chance.
If you have any information at all on these plans, now is the time to share it. Reach me on Signal at marisakabas.04
Tapping the sign
Even in LGBTQIA+ / queer publications I have been told using "they" pronouns, or switching pronouns for someone who uses multiple is "confusing" and we should stick to what people are familiar with.
Censorship of trans+ identities has got to stop!
in a way it is fitting this opinion came on TDoV, because visibility is key to ending so-called conversion practices which thrive hidden away in plain sight, claiming to help queer folks “overcome” their same-sex attraction.
We need to talk about conversion therapy.

PLUS a little tidbit from me on trans day of visibility and the SCOTUS conversion therapy opinion
It's Trans Day of Visibility, a day that brings incredibly complicated feelings during a hard time.
But TNN exists because we believe in the power of unrepentant trans defiance. Not cleaned up for the cis or assimilated into a dying empire.
Trans survival and joy as they exist now. Today. Proudly
i've spent the past two days reading testimonies from trans kids. and boy oh girl, they're some of the bravest, most self-assured folks out there !
happy tdov to all the trans kids out there, pushing the boundaries of gender and forging a new path <3
hope is literally all we have. hope keeps us fighting for liberation.
The Premier of Alberta, Danielle Smith, took time today to celebrate the "exclusion of biological men from women's spaces". The ability for women and girls in this province to be able to play sports will be hindered because of this, and it will be because trans women are the target.
Pierre Pollievre is a danger to trans folks across Canada and he cannot be given any power to take away our rights.
Anyone who stands with the monarch of Terf Island has no place in government.
There is a divide between the public-facing Poilievre, and the version he puts out on online spaces like X.
Reporters should really try to get Poilievre on the record about this stuff.
Ask him if he supports mandatory sex-testing for female athletes in Canada. Make him explain it on mic.
ICE cannot be allowed to freely operate in Toronto or across Canada. Not in the US for that matter too
Literally no one asked for this “war” and no one wants this “war”
Iranians deserve freedom but on their own terms. That includes freedom from imperial destruction from the likes of Israel and USA
I mean, you don’t strictly *need* ‘reporters’ to get scare-clicks from trans people
It is time to talk about a real problem within trans journalism. Breathless, fearmongering posts that wildly exaggerate a danger — or make one up entirely — while being incredibly vague about actual threats and ways to resist.
As TNN's @davidforbes.bsky.social termed it: panicslop. So, a 🧵
This is a really solid thread. To be less diplomatic:
The Needle is a panic-riddled rag and you shouldn't read it, certainly shouldn't give them money.
Erin Reed is also pretty unreliable and tends to omit context in favor of getting clicks and donations.
IMO, TNN-linked folks are your best bet
Jeremy O. Harris drunkenly approached OpenAI CEO Sam Altman at the Oscars after party and called him a Nazi…in front of Zendaya.

Want to emphasize this isn't a guarantee! Months before Midway Blitz started, they did similar flights (which obviously didn't materialize into next-day enforcement activity).
But it does align with Bovino's threats on his way out of town about CBP returning in the spring.

From the patterns we saw last summer/fall and tonight’s flight path, it’s safe to expect potential immigration enforcement activity over the next day or two in these neighborhoods:
1. Lincoln Square / Edgewater / Rogers Park
2. Pullman / Roseland / Chatham (?)

Welp, CBP is back to its nighttime surveillance flights over us in Chicago.
This week's @theflytrapmedia.com from @nicolefroio.bsky.social on children's rights and the urgency of including children in leftist movement work is ESSENTIAL and SO GOOD. It is such an honor to work alongside Nicole because she brings provocative and sharp insight to her work.
Headline after Headline with this guy. While he churns out bewildering policy news, he's working behind closed doors to seal his and provincial ministers' personal communications
This is Meghan's story—please listen and take a minute to understand what has been lost by the NCAA ban.
As trans rights across the U.S. have been decimated, there is hope still. Meghan is proof of that.

As a trans woman, I have been routinely disappointed by coverage of the so-called trans-women-in-sports issue. I also know what it's like to be trans in a swimming pool. But I wanted to find out what it was like to compete in swimming competitions and live authentically as a trans woman.
