Personally I had the biggest gripe with Erenville's directing? His tone at times was SO dissonant w his personality. Again not blaming the VA I just want to make that clear
I think some performances don't get enough shit, at least from what I've seen LOL. Read a comment yesterday saying Krile sounded like a withering grandma and I 100% agree I constantly was like "why does she sound like that ðŸ˜" (again no blame to the VA whatsoever. I fully blame the directing)
I know everyone knows and agrees but jesus christ the voice direction was just......
Some VAs did better under the vd like I think Sphene sounded good pretty much always but I think people focus unfairly on wuk lamat. I think most of her lines, at least post-rerecording, are fine
It took me out so bad that everyone suddenly had the hardest american accents. I still wonder where erenville got his accent from
actually taking that back just a bit bc there always has to be a crazy big lull mid-story for me for some reason. EW was loporrits, DT was shaaloani. I hate wild west stories lol)
But 94-95 was the Mamook part so...........
Meme, 4 selfies of a white guy in various states of crying on public transport. The last image has +14 written on it, implying there are 14 more images of him crying.
Possibly in an M way bc this was me in every voiced cutscene starting at like lv94-95 (image attached). Final zone was just the most devious shit I've maybe ever experienced.
As for ranking............ still pondering. Recency bias wants me to rank it above ShB. Not definitive
I actually really liked 7.0. I went in with no expectations bc some ppl made it out to be so bad, acting like it was worse than ARR somehow? which I knew couldn't possibly be true but still. I hear the ppl who hated the cyber twist, but just speaking for myself, I really liked it.

The music for this dungeon and trial seems really good and the fights seem fun I'm excited. Pray for my wifi (dc'd twice last night b4 giving up)
Screenshot of a guide for the final trial of FFXIV 7.0, The Interphos, showing the Castellation mechanic which creates walls with random holes in them which players have to line up with to avoid dying, reminiscent of various Mario Party mini games.
(7.0 msq final trial)
mario party..
THE CORN IS A FINALIST!!! #FFXIV
Sorry not sorry, TTYD instilled this kink in me as a child
I have way more thoughts but let's end it here, for now 🙂
It's a whole thing Zheke and maybe the Scions have to help him through, but he finds peace eventually in the answer that that version of Fray was real, to him.
Lastly, being bound the way he is already, Khat's fate will be to render up his soul to the job stone as well. It's already taking its toll.
Khat has had a darkside all his life, but finding Fray's job stone made it manifest physically in the beginning, then he began being able to control his powers.
DRK 50 really messed with Khat bc he was catching feelings, then gets existential like "wym that was me all along" lol
Cop-out answer but who knows. My idea is that the DRK job stone draws in and binds parts of or even entire souls of its past wielders. Those can then manifest, influence or even take over the current wielder depending on their control. It's impossible to say where one soul begins and another ends.
Woulda finished 7.0 today, I'm on the final quest but I gave up after dc'ing twice bc of my fuckass wifi connection 💔 I DID NOT want to risk dcing in a dungeon, not as bad in the trial but the dungeon? No thanks. I couldn't take the guilt
If I was any better at drawing than the purest of stick figures I'd try to capture my experience of any voiced msq cutscene these days (tears streaming down my face w crochet in my hands)
when ffxiv devs say "summer vacation" why is the first thing they think of just like. an unconscionable amount of family deaths
Don't get me wrong it's peak
Flings myself into the sky
I like to call this outfit prince Zero because I go off the shits so to speak when I think of her
The simplified golbez is taking me OUTTTT
Which is why it's amazing I didn't realise it sooner...
I love this one so much. I think about this Berkut portrait ALL the time
Khat's pictomancer portrait, in which he tilts his head confused, looks off to the side and grits his teeth.
Berkut from Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia, distressed portrait, looking off to the side conflicted and gritting his teeth.
Accidental same picture. I know I posted this portrait before but the other day I realised where I probably got the idea from... (My favourite Berkut)
I'm still a little salty that the bike costs 7mil gil... I'm trying to save up for hyperexpensive minions here
I want to learn I really do, but I'm afraid the only way for me to learn would be with someone essentially ghost playing for me
