The only reason why you are suddenly seeing a big push to make Hasan Piker a villain is because he is on the campaign trail with Abdul El-Sayed for the Michigan Democratic senate primary and latest polls have him in a dead heat for lead with Haley Stevens' support cratering after the Iran war began

This is also why Third Way style messaging was being pushed so hard by speakers at the Michigan Democratic Party convention this month

There's a lot of Third Way types and pro-Israel Democrats who are really really concerned about the fact that Abdul El-Sayed (who has been campaigning with Hasan Piker) is basically in a dead heat for the lead in the Democratic Michigan Senate primary as of latest polling
