everyone with real American manliness and a basic knowledge of military history knows that serious war efforts have never been derailed by such trifling matters as "communicable diseases"

Same here.
This is up there with John Sergeant's "I wouldn't worry too much about it old boy - we've all *nearly* done that" comment to Robin Oakley.
Americans, if you want to make unfavourable (note correct spellings) comments about British governance standards you'll have to get in the queue behind countries I'm currently more likely to take advice from. At the moment you're just ahead of Myanmar.
And the wicked elves.
And pixies. Don't forget the pixies. Vicious buggers. Can't be expected to cope with repeated pixie attacks.
"You want me to do *that*? Are you mad. I'm off."
My view is that senior civil servants should resign more often. Just one reason an administrative caste determined to have one career for life has drawbacks
I dunno. I'd try being a better government first.
(An Anglo-Catholic, but even so.)
Leith! You're talking to a vicar!
No genitalia.
This is the brusque enquiry of the Border Guard at Ben Gurion turned into state policy. "You're Jewish, you say? So why don't you live in Israel?"
And a lot of people enjoy gambling.
Of course, there is a difference between "the gambling industry" and "my enjoyment of gambling". But it's actually quite hard to restrict the gambling industry while not restricting gambling.
There is little more Bluesky in terms of opinion than "the gambling industrially is universally loathed, even by the millions and millions of people who use its products".
I mean, he's right. But this is an easier sell if your patch includes a massive naval base like Rosyth.
Feels like two enormously powerful and overlapping SCS tribes are mobilising.
Friends of Olly Robbins, who was marked out for mandarin greatness from his first Fast Stream assessment centre.
People who really don't like Antonia Romeo.
The one man who could keep Starmer in his job.
And their most recent president had been an overt white supremacist.
South London's teams are just ignored.
The team of London's cosmopolitans. Chelsea is the team of the money-belt SW postcodes. Spurs and West Ham belong to the declining outer suburbs.
Ulez clearly not functioning in North London because Spurs and Arsenal are both CHOKING.
Often they do, though. Cenk Uygur's Strasserite turn being a very recent example. And the New Right's identification of the "administrative state" and the professions as a class-based enemy of the people quite often reminds me of Vulgar Marxism.
A blue sky with clouds. In the foreground is a green Primary Route exit sign for the A140. The destinations given are Ipswich Diss Norwich. It’s a image I took from google Maps as I wasn’t quick enough on the draw with my camera.
In East Anglia they even put their civic/ football beefs on road signs
For one of the most fun ways this point has been made, see here.

The actual point is that the language of the far left and far right is often indistinguishable. And their other aesthetic preferences too.
The mission is clear. Penetrate the state as deeply and effectively as possible. Both officials and politicians are oblivious to this because most of them are intellectually incurious.
It should worry everyone that this company has got almost all of London's most effective and expensive spinners, lobbyists and all-round influence shops on their payroll. Think tanks too.
You still here? Muting then blocking. And fuck off.
