Couldn't agree more (see the rest of my feed).

I'm sorry about the infrastructure situation in your neighbourhood, wtf.

Oh likewise, 100%, but the issue with low wage jobs is the low wage part; to my mind, that's a separate issue to the relative costs of different transportation modes.

Strap yourselves in for my most unpopular opinion ever: this is an indication that the price of petrol is about right now and was too low before.

It's a bit depressing that in 2026, a Labour leader is promising to block a congestion charge. I have no particular knowledge of the Glasgow plan, but history shows us that in almost every case, congestion charges work for basically everyone.

Mamdani hasn't had time to really think about all that space he now has, because he spends most of his time at City Hall and around New York City. He tries to keep a semblance of his old life by getting around the city on foot, by bike or train.

"If you spend every single day driving around in a tinted window security detail, you will have a very specific view of the city," he said. "You actually meet other New Yorkers and you break out of the bubble that so many have come to expect of politics, where politicians only seem to be spending time with other politicians or the people who donated to make them politicians."

I'd say that this applies to anyone traveling in a car in any city. Being in a car versus walking, riding, or taking transit fundamentally changes how you view a place and your relationship to it. I wish more leaders set this kind of example.

I think it could be the opposite; that people's expectations are broadly similar but are being met less. For example, I "expect" some things that my parents had—such as a free education and affordable housing—and feel poorer than them because half my income goes on student loan repayments and rent.

Nicola Sturgeon Takes On The Interview Of A Lifetime! | The Assembly - S2 Ep.2 YouTube video by ITV

This is one of the most remarkable political interviews I've ever seen. Putting a politician in front of a panel of neurodivergent questioners is a stroke of genius; you get very unfiltered questions and, with Sturgeon retiring from politics soon, very candid answers. youtube.com/watch?v=y4nu...

Glasgow nominations for the Holyrood election are out. The far-right Independent Green Voice is back. In 2021, this fake party, led by a Holocaust denier thrown out of UKIP, probably cost the Scottish Greens two MSPs.

It’s not just gen Z – older adults need help spotting online misinformation too Evidence shows that older adults are just as, if not more, likely than younger generations to believe misinformation.

A teen social media ban is pointless. Investing in media literacy and better regulation of social media platforms would help everyone.

I always feel horrific making porridge with oat milk. It's like massacring a thousand oats by boiling them alive in the juice of their brothers.

Removing urban motorways doesn't cause traffic to simply reroute; it causes traffic to 'evaporate' as folks discover alternative ways to travel. It's a key intervention for tackling pollution, community severence and climate change; it's motorways' retention, not their removal, that's disastrous.

It also illustrates how the case for the changes isn't based on anything resembling a vision or principle... but instead exists to appease rather than tackle the prejudices of xenophobes.

Felt all the feelings at Trans Pride Scotland today: anger, hope, joy, resistance... But most of all, a sense of community. I went to offer solidarity from the construction sector, to show that queers can be found even in the most unexpected places. We are everywhere! And we're not going anywhere.

They want to police our genitalia and run tests on our bodies to “prove” we are women, at which point they will still deny it. This is why the only feminism is trans-inclusive and why transphobia and anti-trans discrimination should be a top political priority.

"The IOC already tried mandatory sex testing. For decades, every female Olympic athlete was screened. In all those years, it never caught a single person deliberately misrepresenting their sex. What it did was destroy the careers & lives of women with intersex conditions they didn’t know they had."

UK’s Renewables Output Hits Record, Helping to Blunt Iran Shock The UK’s renewables power output hit a record on Wednesday, with a surge in wind and solar generation helping to blunt the impact of the Middle East war on power prices.

Wind & solar reduced gas to only 2.4% of the Great Britain electricity mix at midday today, and single figures for most of the last 24 hours, thus reducing any impact of increased gas prices from the Iran war

If you want to help maybe make something cool happen in Glasgow like destroying a dogshit motorway that fucks the whole place up, you should get in on this consultation.

Who wouldn’t want to have “killed a motorway” on their cv?

Indeed they are. In Sweden, for a cold-weather example, balconies are incentivised/required by planning authorities. If a developer excludes them, they must often compensate with rooftop terraces or green courtyards. The resulting streetscape looks like this... maps.app.goo.gl/6rWp7BN9Fpmo...

NEW: We often hear that Scotland’s more progressive income tax is “driving people out the country.”

New HMRC data shows the opposite. Far more taxpayers are moving to Scotland than leaving it.

Let’s look at the data 🧵
