Here is street sweeping notice @apaquette.bsky.social first it says you will be notified 1 day before sweeping. Awesome. Second is you can’t park for the next week from 7am to 7pm. There can easily be more precise communication.

Rather than letting the turmoil of Alberta politics get me down, I am focusing on a positive future that I can influence.

2 h or so before a confirmed plowing/sweeping start towing and ticketing. Another nice to have is place to park, especially inner neighbourhood that have limited or zero on site. I look at the Bonnie Doon mall with acres of empty parking, why not a deal to allow parking there during these times.

Not everyone has a phone or they are not signed up you say, we’ll use the city website and keep using signs. People will sign up because of the convenience, and there will be less need to tow. The technology is there to do this, and the city likely has most bits in place. /5

Instead of giving a week where we might see a plow, text us us 12 hours before that plowing will happen in a 6/8 h window. Something happens, send an update. /4

You already text. You have a website. We can see where plows are on a map. You very likely now what will happen 8-24 hours before it happens. These operations are well planned. /3

If the communication is improved less people will still be parked. The only message we receive now (I am paraphrasing) is “don’t park for the next week” followed by “despite you not parking for the last week, you now can’t park for the next week too” /2

They have a leader?

Perhaps you need to look more closely at what I posted to understand there is a likely a better customer oriented solution than putting a bunch of extra boots in the ground.

Thanks! One should always look at the root cause instead of continuing down the same path of mediocrity.

Would people move their vehicles with a more guaranteed tighter window? I suspect yes. Can the city do this? Of course they can, they just need the will to put the customer first!

Perhaps people keep parking as the city is so mediocre at actually hitting the broad service standard of “sometime in the next week” if we take that as true… /3

I wonder if this should perhaps be rephrased and ask “why is this an issue and could we do something different operational that would result in people following the ban?” /2

Heard councillor @apaquette.bsky.social on the radio talking about the need for more enforcement including more officers to support residential parking bans for snow removal and street cleaning in particular. 1/
