"It would be really bad if they don't work out this Hormuz thing, so they'll figure it out some way" is still the prevailing attitude.
Can see it in markets, media, politicians, public.
Bad can't happen, people in charge know what they're doing, it's all content anyway.
I find it... unsettling.

The Hormuz situation seems so so bad, like gonna-destabilize-half-the-globe-and-tank-the-economy bad, with no obvious resolution even plausible, and it’s still getting the “distant crisis mostly of interest to nerds that will work itself out” treatment in American press
I highlight some very bad NYT analysis alleging Dem hypocrisy in Virginia in this piece:
PENTAGON ERASES WOUNDED U.S. TROOPS FROM IRAN WAR CASUALTY LIST: "DEFINITION OF A COVER-UP" The U.S. government altered its tally of American casualties - inexplicably scrubbing 15 wounded-in-action troops from the count. Nick Turse April 222026, 10:50 a.m. Share
The Pentagon has launched a cover-up of the casualty count in the Iran War, The Intercept reports.
15 casualties are now not included and at least one reported death Major Sorffly Davius is missing from the official tally.
The system tracking casualties may be omitting hundreds of injuries.
😮
Make no mistake, this is exactly what political news media will do for the foreseeable future. They, like their GOP allies, think that Rs are the natural rulers of this country & anytime Dems take power it is at best a temporary aberration. Whenever Ds do actual politics they scream bloody murder.
As I have been saying for a while this is going to happen and we need to start talking about it and pushing for it. We have to MAKE it happen
If we take the defeatist approach that some Dems take—that he'll just magically disappear, or that we can just wait until Jan. 2029, ... (1/3)

“To say that President Trump is corrupt is to somehow understate the size, scope and magnitude of his corruption,” our columnist Jamelle Bouie writes.
The Texas legislature rammed through a gerrymandering bill at the request of Trump.
Virginia actually voted in favor of redistricting to counterbalance what Texas and other Republican-controlled states have done.
Yet only one is considered a "power grab."
Oligarch-owned media in a nutshell.
We also have good evidence of unions as one of the very very few social institutions that push white adults towards less racist attitudes
The DOJ was created to increase the capacity for federal prosecutions during Reconstruction esp. those to be brought under the newly enacted KuKlux Klan Act.
Now the DOJ is being used to prosecute a storied civil rights organization whose central mission has been to expose & dismantle the Klan.
Convicted sex criminal Ghislaine Maxwell socialized with Melania from Palm Beach to Manhattan. Emails revealed in the Epstein Files show that the two communicated. Today, the DOJ is still hiding nearly half the files. Why? What’s being hidden? Oversight Dems will find out.
Alan Dershowitz's defection to the Republican Party could have a chilling effect on Democrats' ability to recruit authoritarian pro-Netanyahu pedophiles who continually go on Fox News to praise Donald Trump.
"[Impeachment] is how you hold executive officials to account. This is what the Framers gave us to deal with a president who is failing at his job, not just because he's incompetent—which he is, not just because he's crazy—because he is, but because fundamentally he's a criminal who defies the law."
Republicans can just bring in Jack Smith—and ask their questions.
They’ll hear for themselves.
Donald Trump’s desperate efforts to *overturn an election* merited investigation.
look, republicans set the rules of engagement that literally any bureaucratic trick is fair game and they just never thought dems would agree to those terms
Got a great deal on an Agile Septor 727 with a Floyd Rose (7-string baritone) as a backup for my LTD. Just received the open-box Nazgul-Sentient pickup set from Reverb & they're going in this weekend! I think everything else is cool stock for now.
Incredible shots of the exchange between Rep. AOC and RFK, Jr. at today’s congressional hearing.

Extremely buried actual point:
"If we don’t preserve nest sites and someone paves over them, we could lose—in an instant—5.5 million bees that are important pollinators."
"[Republicans] have overlooked [Trump's] mental disorders in the past— dismissed them. They've overlooked his depravity. They've overlooked the fact that he is an adjudicated sexual abuser. That he's a convicted criminal ... Because it served their purposes. It no longer serves their purposes."
There are now public polls taken in the last few weeks showing Dems ahead in Senate races in Alaska, Iowa, Maine, North Carolina, and Ohio - more than enough to flip the Senate - and competitive in Florida and Texas too.
You know who else famously used paid informants to infiltrate extremist groups?
The Justice Department.
If you attend the White House Correspondents Dinner this year, you should be legally barred from using the term "journalist" to describe yourself from that point on.
