In 35 years not one student has ever acknowledged it.

We are here to talk outside of lessons if you or your student need to talk to a trusted adult that they have built rapport with. While we won't bring up the topic, we will not shy away from conversations that involve heavy feelings should you or your student bring it up.

Andy, myself, and A Kopp Music as a business entity do not support the offensive actions by ICE, Homeland Security, Customs and Board Patrol, or the Trump Administration in its entirety. We stand by our communities of broad diversity and color, rich with culture and heritage.

I am mixed heritage with my father being an immigrant from Guatemala. Even though he has been a US Citizen since 1983, I am fearful due to the actions we have seen taken by ICE and CBP as they have swept up persons regardless of status and citizenship for the sole reason of the color of their skin.

We have many students and parents of young students that have either been involved with local activism, protests, or are legal observers. We also have students that are or have family members that are immigrants.

Today's news in Minnesota is upsetting. A woman who was a legal observer, and protester of the ICE immigration actions in Minnesota was shot and killed by a federal ICE agent near 43rd and Portland in South Minneapolis.

So why am I, your private music teacher, writing to you today about this?

Andy and I are off to Waco, Tx this morning at attend the South Central Regional Conference with the Piano Technicians Guild.

We took off a little late because it is a snowy mess out there, it once we got above the clouds it sure is a pretty blue!

Food and beverage service for annual piano recital. Brightly colored rainbow mums with baby's breath decorate the table. Service includes coffee & tea, juice, snack pak size bags of cookies and crackers, fruit snacks, and gummy bears.

First three have been a blast. Three more to go!

Our recitals are short and designed for the youngest attendees. Best part is the after with snacks, juice, and photos!

There will be 6 recitals with more than 60 students performing that day. While the vast majority will be piano students, also joining us that day is a trumpet, a flute trio, & a graduating senior on saxophone.
