Unfortunately, the Press & Journal haven't published the column online. It’s worth picking up a copy of the Press & Journal tomorrow as @slipshodspeller.bsky.social has written a column commenting on the most recent update of Aberdeen City Council’s plans for library services in Aberdeen - which are concerningly baffling to understand.
We would encourage communities in Aberdeenshire to continue organising and campaign. This news changes very little, and all 13 libraries are at risk of closing with a far reduced service, potential loss of community archives and resources that have been curated over many decades.
It is imperative that no library is closed. Not only are many of these libraries in locations with little public transport, but some are the only community space anyone from the public can access and use. Not to mention we need to address falling literacy levels. www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...
