I Got Abducted by Aliens and Now I'm Trapped in a Rom-Com by Kimberly Lemming This book is just a joy. I don't normally gravitate toward alien romance, but this book made a believer of me. Dory is such a FUN character and she's constantly like NOTHING MAKES BIOLOGICAL SENSE HERE. Add in two sexy aliens, a talking lion, and a research assistant owl creature, and you have a book I'll return to again and again. Feast While You Can by Mikaella Clements & Onjuli Datta Listen, if I have to shove this book into the hands of every person even remotely interested in horror romance, I'm going to do it. Moody and atmospheric, this one had some truly scary moments. The character work was phenomenal. And sexy sapphics! The Blood Trials by NE Davenport This is the book I recommend people try if they enjoyed Fourth Wing and don't know where to go next. Ikenna is such an amazing character and her grief and rage are so relatable, considering her circumstances. Sure, everyone is trying to kill her and her instructor is kind of hot, but she's the best of the best for a reason... The Hundred Thousand Kingdoms by NK Jemisin I love all of NK Jemisin's books, but this series holds a special place in my heart. The story and world are lush and terrible and perfect. While I wouldn't say it necessarily has a romantic subplot, I WILL say it contains one of my favorite sub-tropes of "We're going to have sex, but also you might very well kill me in the process..." I Was a Teenage Slasher by Stephen Graham Jones I LOVE the Jade Daniels series, but this book offers a different perspective on slashers. It hurts in the best way possible, an ache in your chest that you can't quite reach. He's really at the top of his slasher game with this book, and his love for the genre shines through with every word.
