Iran has generally struck bases which are allied with the forces that attacked it first, the US not only started the war, and there fore cannot claim self defence is bombing civilian infrastructure, (bridges, powerplants, oil production)
so its going into enemy territory and dropping bombs on them, which is offensive (like you explained). Especially in a war started by the side thats doing the "offensive counter air" they are bombing the sites that are being used to retaliate in line with international law of self defence
how are bombers used defensively
