Oh interesting!! It's wild how much things vary with DID, I always feel weird in some way and then everything I've experienced seems to normal or at least not unheard of with the disorder

Okay decided to go back to the name I was using for a while it's more comfortable to me
Anyway, my name is Mimi! I'm the host state and identify with how we look physically. I like to write, and I spend a lot of time watching video essays and daydreaming. Hopeless lesbian.

bmth's true friends is so dissociative identity avenger/anger holding alter to me

Plus you risk going through all that just to have them say they don't have experience with it and don't feel qualified to diagnose. I just feel like therapy works best when you're absolutely upfront.

of you bringing up something you are genuinely concerned you might have, they're a bad therapist and not a great person to seek services from in the first place. Please inform me if I'm misunderstanding something about this but it seems like straight up dangerous advice/

a starting point, if someone says they're concerned about DID that tells them the client either has DID or is dealing with something with similar symptoms (BPD, another dissociative disorder, PTSD) and they usually value client's views into their own symptoms. If a therapist is judgemental/

Idk where the idea that you should pretend you don't know what DID is when asking about a diagnosis from a therapist came from but from my experience it is horrible advice. I don't think you should lie to your therapist. Most therapists will take their clients concerns into account bc it gives them/

Idk why this is one of those things I feel weird about lol, there are a couple things that I just feel like makes me weird compared to how most people's alters are. Like we don't have any nonhuman alters either

Does anyone else with a CDD mostly have alters who age yearly, all of our main active alters have a birthday they age on and even the way they appear in my head slowly gets older, only a small amount of barely fronting child fragments don't age for us #dissociasky

The way that this sounds both wildly ableist and incredibly unoriginal and boring

Like I said I do think the severity of the dissociation with DID can make grounding methods feel silly and pointless sometimes, and I've been frustrated with them being suggested to me before too when I've known some don't work. It's def fair to feel kind of frustrated with it

from therapists from our experience, but if multiple alters felt dismissed, I think that's still something it's okay to bring up and communicate to make sure they weren't intending that and to express why it came across that way bc you shouldn't feel that way in therapy.

blurry or stuck in a switch to help ground someone in our body. I have found that a lot of these grounding methods don't work for us though, I think just bc if the severity of the dissociation bc of DID. I don't think she meant to be dismissive as this sort of thing is a common recommendation/

Grounding is the first coping strategy usually taught for dissociation and this sounds like grounding, for me this has been helpful before though stopping a switch isn't always the most helpful thing depending on the situation from my experience - things like this tend to help us more when we're/

Does anyone have recommendations on where to find teen alters groups or something like that? Mortimer has been talking about wanting making friends outside of the system and ik a few of them feel kind of isolated bc they don't fully relate to our adult friends #dissociasky

If you only disrespect pls identities or call ppl slurs when they're bad ppl you're just waiting for excuses to do that 🤷

1 year ago 0 0 0 0

No you're right and you should say it, ppl use morality as a way to discredit marginalized ppl. Like ppl will misgender trans ppl who have some something bad but nobody ever does that to cis ppl so it's always obviously a peek into how they rly feel about trans ppl

Republicans are doing this because they want gay men and transgender women to contract HIV. They believe that dying of AIDS is a deserved punishment for having gay sex, just as they think that forced childbirth is a deserved punishment for sexually active women. This is not especially complicated.
