Looks complicated

Which technologies were emerging or widespread when the oldest currently living person was born? See that? How many production runs you think that had? How many of those in total? If half my body lay crushed under concrete I think I could be extremely calm about it. No, I'm having a great time.
biggest rush in game dev is when you finally get the input glyph UI sprites automatically swapping based on the current input device
NASA control room for the Artemis II mission with an Artemis (cat from Sailor Moon) plushie sitting on desk with a sleep mask
THEY PUT A SLEEP MASK ON HIM WHEN THE ASTRONAUTS WERE ASLEEP (also stolen from reddit)
The post says they're upgrading their blob
Historically this has never worked out for me
I’ve been serpent maxxing. it hasn’t been improving my life
Well, I think that bluechecks on Twitter often didn't see the pileons because they were using the verified-users quality filter.
First things first though, I need to create an entirely new software license that bans "AI code assistant" users from making use of my code for any reason
Buuut Yew's nice, Rocket's nice when you're not falling into the holes in the documentation, Diesel's usable although it slows me down enough I might switch to sqlx+sea-query, so maybe when I finally get a free week or two I'll throw the bluesky bugout script together. We'll see
Last time I poked at that, I was moving quickly toward a hack that would let Mastodon users chat on @stream.place streams, got hung up on teaching a scrolling widget in Yew to autoscroll when new content is added, and then [redacted] and so quite reasonably I did literally nothing for two months.
Anyway, around the end of last year I started putting together a stack of Rust crates that would, in principle, make it as easy to throw together small web apps as back when I used Django, and I had like 3 ideas for tiny apps, with the plan to each simultaneously interface with Mastodon and Bluesky
If I do dev for ATProto, I avoid the vagaries of the ActivityPub spec and get simpler self-hosting. But consider what I get if I target ActivityPub: 310 character posts and HTML tags. Imagine the incredible power. Netscape 3.0! I don't have to define a "lexicon". I can just make a 310 character post
The problem I hit with this plan is, of course, the same as with any ATProto development I do: Why do work that feels like free labor for Bluesky Social PBC? The protocol really is very easy to write small tools for, but the technology is overall so inferior and limited it doesn't feel worth it
To be clear, when I talk about considering giving up on Bluesky someday, I don't mean "the environment here does not feel welcoming to Atlantic contributors". To me The Atlantic is that blog that posts takes I want to trash but I don't because I'm afraid doing so would drive traffic to their site.
Last year I was thinking it would make a lot of sense to make a thin script that sits in front of a PDS and directly renders Bluesky posts as HTML. This is my Bluesky bugout plan. If BS PBC ever pisses me off too much, I cut off one reverse proxy, enable another and my Bluesky account is now a blog
3 stars is good and if you say it's bad because it's a 6/10 when converting to a 10-point scale, that's because you're using a 10-point scale which is an inferior metric of appraisal
I think they called it the round house because it was round but I wouldn't be surprised if there's a weirder explanation
The political calculations that result in cutting NASA funding the day after the Artemis II launch must be fascinating
The house looks like a lighthouse from the Myst series. Wikipedia describes it as "an 18th-century elliptical house in Haveringatte-Bower called the Round House"
This is a photo of Imogen Heap's childhood home. Are you surprised or the opposite of surprised
The Revue has all these Nirvanna the Band the Show the Movie showings on its schedule this month and the listings are all tagged proudly with PRESENTED ON 35MM! and it's cracking me up
Also I wouldn't base conclusions on trending posts unless you know what the trending algorithm is (maybe possible on bluesky; it's open source?). Bluesky has a sentiment analysis function somewhere. What if negative sentiment posts don't contribute to trending? That would produce your observation
The only perspective that the size of a pileon matters from is the person being piled on
OH COME ON
THE TRANS FLAG & THE TERM EGG DIDNT EVEN EXIST YET AS SUCH
AND THE LANGUAGE BARRIER ANYWAY
WHAT ARE THE FUCKIN' ODDS
I'd ask if they had the shakes but the shakes seem kinda gross
Incidentally, the fish place *did* have chicken. I don't know why they had chicken. It isn't even on the menu
Two things that come to mind are private accounts and the "blue checks only" notification filter (which *I* didn't think was a good feature, but the bluechecks seemed to like it)
But no fish :(
If Bluesky were interested in innovation they'd be on top of this already
posting needs more elements of chance to boost repost value; posts should be assigned rarities, have special effects that must be identified, can come out cursed or blessed, should be able to gain experience levels so they can deal more damage to other posts
I guess
