I wish Bink was an option for indie and smaller scope development, but alas
To the surprise of no one, this was a nightmare during Arzette's development as well. Multi-platform video playback is no joke!
Congrats!

GG @timoflegend.bsky.social! My wife's primary hobby is pottery so this game is a delight to share with her.
Link. Catch the chest. Then, open it.
The city building sections from Actraiser maybe qualify?
Had a fun and productive GDC! My only regret was not catching up with more folks in person...until next time!
Happy birthday! They grow up so fast...
I finally framed the map of Faramore.
To anyone who got Arzette's collector's edition, the map is exactly 18" x 18"!
Arzette
Arzette in a swimsuit and holding a beach ball
i said I wanted to draw Arzette again so I did. I thought she might cool good in a swimsuit too so two pics instead of one yay.

Happy to finally announce this! It’s been a privilege to work with such a beloved brand. Especially cool to bring back one of the best arcade beat-’em-ups ever (with rollback netcode courtesy of our amazing partners at Komi Games). Excited for folks to be able to play this…soon!
Hi! Appreciate the kind words from you both.
It's a small world sometimes. I've since moved away but go enjoy some Old Hickory and a walk through Smothers Park on my behalf.
Thanks for playing!
Digital portrait of a young woman in fantasy garb wielding a sword above her head, looking over her shoulder with a smile. Character is Arzette, from the video game Arzette: The Jewel of Faramore. Arzette is a young dark-skinned woman with long red hair with streaks of blonde throughout. She has pointed ears like an elf, and green eyes. She wears a jeweled tiara, befitting of a princess, and wears a pink and purple short-sleeve tunic and purple gloves. In her raised right hand she wields her Smart Sword, a silver scimitar with hot pink sharpened edges and a golden eagle's head acting as the hilt.
Just wrapped up my first completely blind playthrough of @arzettegame.bsky.social. Incredibly charming, genuinely funny, and, more importantly than being an homage, it is unsurprisingly excellent. I loved every minute.
Big congrats to @seth.games and the dev team. And a big hello from OBKY, Dopply!
The first game had one of the funniest original tracks I've ever heard from one of these simulator type games (and goes kinda hard ngl) youtu.be/OIs7Uq3Jehc
Quick sketches of Arzette
Arzette in a more action pose
Arzette busts
Full body Arzette sketch it kind of meh
I was trying to doodle before bed and started doing some rough Arzette sketches cuz I replayed that game recently. I should draw her more

I'll be at GDC March 10-12th! Please reach out if you wanna find some time to talk all things Carbon Engine/retro releases or simply catch up. Looking forward to it!
This release also marks our renewed focus on emulation quality. Special thanks to @kevarmstrong.bsky.social for his hard work in this regard. Cycle accurate NES on console is no joke! We also have an excellent new CRT filter we'll be using going forward.
JAWS: Retro Edition from the Carbon Team is out and you get to check out the unreasonably good JAWS: Enhanced Edition as part of it! Jeremy and Patrick truly killed it. It's shockingly good!

I should probably go to MAGFest at some point, looked really fun this year
A lot of you are picking up Arzette for the holidays, which means a lot more than I can properly articulate. I don’t take it for granted.
If you’re playing it for the first time (or replaying it) I’d love to hear your thoughts. Happy holidays, everyone.
I'm happy I'm not alone
Photo of my magazine rack which contains a full set of the mid-aughts video game magazine GMR on the bottom shelf.
I have a full set of GMR. As a rural kid with limited internet access, it was a defining magazine for me. Timelessly stylish covers.
Two-bit pixel art of a scroll opened to a picture of princess Arzette along with her name spelled out
been playing Arzette: The Jewel of Faramore for the past few days, it's a pretty fun game reminiscent of the Zelda CD-i series

Well said. For me, I'm grateful that I got to make what I wanted, the way I wanted, *and* it resonated with the people I wanted. Can't ask for much more.
Been looking forward to Demonschool ever since I was a couple booths over at PAX West 2023. Congrats on the launch!

As before, this will not affect my output as an independent developer. I’ll continue to have my hands in several indie games moving forward, including my work at Seedy Eye Software. Stay tuned!
Professional update: I have assumed the role of development director at LRG, with a focus on the Carbon Engine. My job is to build upon the stellar groundwork laid by @supernesjoe.bsky.social and @modernvintagegamer.com to deliver quality releases that classic games deserve.
It's the cover for the ps1 game no one can stop mr domino. Mr domino is a smiley domino piece sith arms and two dots for eyes and 5 dots for a torso. He's running along a teal and purple checkerboard with other dominos on the field and a yellow billiard ball.
Jim Carrey as the mask is looking at himself in the mirror. His face is green and he's wearing a mustard yellow suit and hat with a turkey feather (I think) in the hatband. This is the scene in which he saga "somebody stop me."
The sad truth of the 90s was that no matter much they begged or pleaded nobody in popular entertainment could be stopped
