'The Gum iceberg goes pretty deep...'
"What's the deal with chewing gum. It's like, you keep chewing but it will never fill your hunger. In a sense it's almost metaphorical for humanitys desire to make out a meaningful life in this Universe that all things considered ultimately is indifferent to our needs."
'Ah yes this reflects the consumerism movement well and reminds me of how back when gum was rare in USSR people used to chew on the same eхact gum for days. The whole group of young people, completely ignoring the anti-sanitary aspects would not only chew just for the sake of chewing(the flavour would be long gone by that point) but also collect the gum wrappers. Which is like Funko-Pops of the more modern times. People have always wanted to do useless things for the sake of doing them, no purpose, no ultimate goal, just one desire uniting them all, consume.'
"Indeed, the convertion from habit to "ritual" if you will can in a sense be explained by our attempts to carry things on in spite of it's original function or purpose being lost. In that aspect we can consider our inherent desire for spiritual meaning to possibly stem from these unquenchable thirst for basic necessity."
'Such is the ultimate consequence of humanity completely overtaking the natural order of things on Earth. Things that once made sense function-wise were transformed to suit the needs of mankind, "terraformed" i'd even say. The longer we eхist, the further we stray not from god, but from the fundamental things that defined us in our origins. By directly setting the rules, "sence" and "meaning" were completelly hjacked by people. So what did not make sence in the past was overwritten by the pioneers taking the first napkin. Some may call it evolution, but i personally define it as one iteration replacing the other. While improvements of progress are plentiful, it does not devalue the not so few degradations such as the ever rising pointlesness of tasks that slowly become our everyday routi...

blown out and askew photo of a subway passage. fleshy pseudopods like rotten gums curl out from around the corner. one curl forms a crude mouth lined with flat teeth

Theories and "expectations" have had a nasty impact on culture.

They just set people up to get mad when the story the artist tells doesn't line up with whatever people imagined based off "patterns" that don't really mean anything.

Wait for the end, enjoy the ride, and let a story be what it is.

Drawing of Mr Ant Tenna, picking petals from his nose flower, in the "loves me, loves me not" way, with one arm supporting his head while his feet on the air playfully, on a pink background with hearts patterns on it.
