And as ever, no-one ever challenges Fart rage about how he'd square that circle.
Would he put up Council Tax, or cut services further?
He's full of sound bytes that don't stand any scrutiny, and aren't costed.
God help any authorities and communities that his party may take control of in May.

Newcastle, like all local authorities has to publish it's annual Parking Account.
www.newcastle.gov.uk/local-govern...
You've still got all the costs of repaying the loans used to build the car parks, the cost of maintaining them, and the cost of enforcement, but none of the income.
In Newcastle on street parking costs the council ยฃ9,260,871.63 per year.
If on street parking is 'free' that would still be a cost that needs to be covered. It's roughly the same as a 6% rise in council tax, on top of existing rises.

I'm incredibly impatient, and enforcement relies on Officers having to walk the streets and issue tickets.

Always on duty, silently guarding our pavements 24/7/365, no matter the weather.
IF YOU BUILD A BIKE LANE THAT DOESN'T CONNECT TO ANOTHER BIKE LANE THEN YOU DIDN'T BUILD A BIKE LANE
mRNA vaccines continue to show major promise.
In a small Phase 1 trial led by Dr. Balachandran, some patients with pancreatic cancer (one of the deadliest cancers) reached 6-year survival.
This is why sustained investment in science & research matters.

Pilgrim Pole in the foreground, street lights in the background.
Bit disappointed they're not the functional lighting.
The actual amenity lightning is being done by some pretty ordinary street lights.
Which means SSE haven't accepted the poles into the PFI bid and NCC will be responsible for their maintenance.
Hopefully the spotlighting made it through VE.
You'd certainly hope that as the Council claim to have already prepared and submitted several funding bids to demolish it, they'd have a set of plans for what comes next ready to publish.
Wonder why they seem to be reluctant to share their vision of the future at this point?

Out and about yesterday. Pleased to see that the tree that blew down in #StormDave has been sorted on South View West.
I reported it on the day, and followed up with the #team when I saw it hadn't been cleared in the first pass.
Working hard for residents right across #Ouseburn all year round.
Insider trading by Trump friends and family has been obvious for a while
Bigger question is whether Trump is deliberately causing volatility to enable this grift
All this gambling should be made illegal
No way you can argue it's efficient allocation of capital

This is infinitely more consequential than Trump, oil prices, Hormuz etc. yet we continue to ignore it.

I used to drive over it occasionally, and even cycled over it in lockdown.
"It was subsequently revealed the flyover had major issues with drainage and there was water seeping through it." ๐คฃ
At some point between 2015 and 2020 it looks like they stopped clearing the gully's.
Cause = effect?
An image of a person with a pushchair down a residential street near inconsiderately parked cars. The person is wearing striped clothing and walking past a black car. The setting includes brick buildings and a view of houses on a hill in the background.
It's happening! ๐ข
On Tuesday, MPs will consider an amendment to enable local leaders to ban pavement parking in their area. We need you to help us get this amendment on to the Bill.
Ask your MP to agree to Amendment 265 when it's considered on Tuesday: https://bitly.livingstreets.org.uk/4tMU2Uq

We've massively changed our approach to community engagement and multi disciplinary working around safety in Higher Risk Buildings.
Yup. Moving services apart to get them through walls.
I think we've only accepted a handful of EJs, and one is around getting plastic conduit into plasterboard walls, something that's been done for years!
Heaton Park Court, as the scaffold was being removed, following the overclad and new window retrofit.
Lort House, Pandon Court and King Charles Tower in the sun, after they've been insulated and had window replacements.
With my other hat on, we've seen huge team efforts across the City's HRBs with new fire doors fitted to flats and landings.
New scooter and ebike stores being built to relocate the risk of battery fires.
And I've checked the insulation used on our decabonisation projects is nonflammable.
I totally agree those responsible for Grenfell need to be held accountable, but the building industry has moved quicker and further than you'd expect.
The delays caused by setting up the Building Safety Regulator and Higher Risk Buildings approach has meant that not much new has been completed yet.
We've spent countless hours in design team meetings finding certified products and details, quite literally reinventing things we've all done for years.
The building has sprinklers, intumescent paint and the steel is encapsulated.
There's no flammable insulation in the facade.

New building
Same, there's been a seizmic shift in the industry (at the level I work at). No-one is taking any risks, designers insurance won't cover them, contractors insurers won't cover them, and our insurers won't cover the finished building unless it's compliant with the new regs and standards.

Quick, spend ยฃ8m on the car park ๐คฃ
From a quick look at it, I'd probably agree. Lots of factories making stuff, not just huge warehouses selling stuff made elsewhere.
We were the service economy of Europe, and when we left, they found new ways to deliver those services.
Unfortunately the manufacturing boom here promised by Brexit..
Cool.
I bumped into Cain from Wild Intrigue on Friday, who was down on the Ouseburn looking over the swans there.
Highest tide of the year, so he wanted to check on the floating platform he's built for the pair to nest on.
Got chatting about the Merlin app and how it's transformed my Ward Walks.

Personally, I think it'll depend on turn out.
If a sizeable percentage of the 60% of eligible voters who don't normally exercise their right to vote, haven't been voting because there's been nothing on the ballot paper that appeals to them, we could be fighting for scraps this time round.
Reminder: The Trump regime cancelled nearly $500 million in federal contracts for mRNA vaccine development last year.
My condolences, so sorry for your loss.
Science good, anti-vax cranks bad.
Dad was diagnosed with pan can really early, before he had any symptoms, because he'd volunteered as part of another trial.
And it was still too late to save him.
This needs to be rolled out, as pancreatic cancer has one of the lowest survival rates.
Too many people appear to believe there is a hidden trapdoor in streets that pops humans up immediately in front of a vehicle. That pedestrian or person on a bike did not "come out of nowhere." They came from the sidewalk or yard or bike lane that you, the driver, weren't bothering to look at.
Got a metallic taste in your mouth?
A screenshot of the league table. There's the UK in 21st place, with an awful ranking on child metal health.
Why would Tory MPs not want kids to travel to Europe?
Oh, yeah, perhaps it's because they'd find out how much happier European kids are.
They're governments not having ruined their futures.
