This cat would like you to know that she is a serious and respectable creature.

Do you remember that time Pence tried to see Hamilton and the cast called him out.

Or when McConnell was chased out of a resraurant and not allowed a peaceful meal.

Or when Cruz abandoned Texas during the deep freeze and we shamed him into going home.

That.

Do that.

Wheels up for Burbank.

LA friends & family, my schedule is busy but I’d love to make time for a bite or a drink.

ComicsPro pals, I can’t wait to see your faces. My body is cranky but my heart is yours.

Anyway they just celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary and they took me out tonight for my 43rd birthday and I just feel really lucky to have them.

A colorized photo of two white teenagers, a young woman wearing thin-rimmed glasses and a shirt with the word “vote” with stars, and a young man wearing a wide-collared button-up shirt and fluffy dark-brown hair. She is smiling with full teeth, his lips are closed but one corner of his mouth is smiling.

My parents got together as teenagers: here, it is 1972, Nixon was still in office. My dad was scorned for his “long hair,” my mom is wearing a shirt that says “vote” even though she wouldn’t be able to for another two years.

Every drawing I see from Maria, even a pencil sketch like this, is a window on a world I wish I lived in.

Today I was laid off from Dark Horse Comics. While devastating news, I'm so proud of what I helped make there and am grateful to have worked alongside such amazing coworkers and creators.

I'm not quitting comics yet, so if you or someone you know needs a savvy editor please reach out.

Well that sucks. I’m so sorry, and also, I really look forward to seeing where your path takes you next. I hope it’s still comics! Sending love.

A map of flight paths emanating from breeding colony of gulls, with this caption: Early on, LifeWatch noticed something odd. Most gulls were making daily trips to Mouscron, a city on the French border 65 km away. They went to investigate and found the birds bingeing on discarded snacks at the Roger & Roger potato factory.

Today in relatable science: Gulls making a mysterious daily trip that turned out to be to a potato chip factory

a black and white photo of a man holding a skeleton and a fish . Alt: a black and white gif of a man tearing the costume body of a beaver off a human skeleton in one motion from the slapstick comedy film Hundreds Of Beavers

I have rarely tittered so much and so consistently at the joy of creativity and ingenuity and teamwork and just dogged perseverance as I did tonight in the cinema at @hundredsofbeavers.bsky.social

It’s going to be talked about in film courses forever. The amount of inspiring it will do

There's also the classic "What's funny about it?" when they say that something awful was just a joke.

Well. I did it. I submitted my book on the history of how the US government has removed Indigenous children from their families. From colonization to removal to boarding schools to today. For middle schoolers.

I think it's the first book of its kind. I can't believe I got to do it.

Why not skip it and use the resources we have to build a solarpunk utopia instead?

As a lifelong lover of dystopic fiction, I get the escapist thrall of “living in a survivalist wasteland would be better—even easier—than surviving in late capitalism.” I feel it. But I’m not foolish enough to believe I would even survive that long. And the time between is brutal.

A graph showing the number of people named Miles born per hour. It has grown exponentially since 1980.

In children per year, the US birth rate is at an all-time low, but in Miles’ per hour it’s at an all time high.

Normalizing spelling out what people actually mean when they cite DEI rather than letting them hide behind the safe cover of a euphemism that's been sapped of meaning

When the Patriot Act was passed, libraries got requests for patrons’ borrowing history. We were prohibited from disclosing those requests.

We deleted and shredded those records and stopped tracking reading history for that reason.

ALSO.

I mean, literally, the answer to this is "I am federally prohibited from telling you anything about my students without a subpoena or judicial warrant; if you have a subpoena or judicial warrant, please submit it to [Legal Officer/Office] to ensure it is in compliance with all relevant federal laws"

Yes, this administration is dangerous and cruel, but they are also shockingly dim and incompetent.

Opportunities are everywhere.

Make everything as hard as possible. Resist every demand. Refuse entry without a warrant. Don’t take the buyout. Their problem solving skills are 📉
