After officially joining World War One 109 years ago this month, this adminitration has chosen to surrender to the last enemy still inflicting casualties: the flu.
Or "How to lose WWI a century after it ended: let the flu win."
Infowars/Onion combo logo in rainbow saying “I support the onion’s hostile media takeover.”
It’s finally happened. After 18 months. Finally, a media merger you can root for.
As someone who has known about Alex Jones since long before he became an infamous household name (not a boast -- I truly wish y'all had never been inflicted with him like I was), this makes me very happy.
[Muttering to self]:
"Every time. *Every* time! Can no one wind anymore? And look at this one. Creased. That's the 10th one this week alone. No respect for papyrus! On the discard stack it goes! I swear, I could fold the whole lot together and make a fan with all these.

...or..."
This is excellent. Going on my to-read list. Thank you!
Any chance I could get the full reading list? I've been craving recommended books that cover Charles I's reign through to the start of the Restoration.
I have not yet seen any "Dr. Manhattan on the moon" memes about the Strait being declared open.
Internet, my friend, what are you waiting for?
The Strait of Hormuz is open but only if you can get the 5th dimensional imp to reveal its name, backwards, twice.
"All the world will be your enemy, and whenever they catch you, they will kill you. But first they must catch you."

Tweet from Tucker Carlson: “America’s new civic religion is Israelism, Christianity without the New Testament, and it’s the most unforgiving faith of all.”
"Christianity without the New Testament" is how many Christians imagines Judaism, as if the Talmud does not exist and Judaism is fixed in the Second Temple period, unchanging. It's how you end up with Christians wanting to have modern seders because they imagine it's what Jesus would have done.
Adding to Joel's great point:
Christians who have seen Judaism like this have at times gone on not just to ignore the Talmud but to deny it is even "valid" for Jews, telling Jews they're being Jewish "wrong."
It's an ahistorical conservatism that demands stagnation on others, for apocalyptic ends.
Lost in all this absurdity:
In the film, Jules realizes at the end that his use of that faux-verse is bullshit, as he uses it just to intimidate people before a murder; but the murdering has to stop, even when "justified". And so, he let's people he could kill go.
Hegseth neither read NOR watched.
[Austrian accent]: "I'll be back."
Had to make this a post.

There was Eru, the One, who in Arda is called Illuvitar, and he made first the Ainur, who were the offspring of his thought and were with him before aught else was made."
Exactly one year ago today:
It isn't unprecedented for the besieger to run out of food before the besieged, but it absolutely isn't typical.
"Military says war conditions prompted suspension"
WAR CONDITIONS ARE YOUR WORK CONDITIONS. WHAT IN THE EVER LIVING BLUE FUCK DO YOU THINK YOU ARE DOING?
You can't get them FOOD because "there's a war?" Gee, if only we had some sort of organization that handled that sort of thing.
We waited 3 years for this moment. 🥹

Excuse me while I fall off my chair giggling.
I remember when Pope Francis got accused of being political. His answer was (extremely paraphrased):
"Of course I'm political. A polis is a key unit of cooperative society. Haven't you read Aristotle? Don't you know that a bishop is tasked with care of a polis? Why the blank stare? This isn't new."
People from Canterbury, deadpan: "No."
I want to hear him explain the "just authority" part.
I once argued (unsuccessful) with someone who thought "the world" in John 3:16 meant "a small, exclusive group of ultra pure Christians." He was actually dumbstruck at first, like the idea was wholely alien, to hear that "world" was a universally inclusive word meaning: "Everyone. Yes, even them."
"Spaceballs the flamethrower!"
