"I had to uproot my life and family and move to a different state because I was unable to budget."

some things about becoming a parent are radicalizing in ways I expected - e.g being reminded viscerally how screwed we'd all be if childcare and other care work disappeared. but other things are radicalizing in ways I didn't - like experiencing constant spontaneous solidarity in ways big and small
(watch the thing) This is how to do it: connect Trump & company's corruption to the high cost of everything else.
You've been on a roll recently. Keep up the great work.
If he goes to the jukebox and pulls up anything dubstep then it's confirmed: he's a time traveler. Proceed with caution.
Seconded.
🤘🏻 CUT MY LIFE INTO PIECES 🤘🏻
FOR EATING WITH MY SPORK
Wish she was my friend when I was 25!
I asked my turning-25-tomorrow coworker if she's saving for retirement. In response, she whipped out the budgeting/finance/investing PowerPoint presentation that she recently gave to her friends.
These kids are all right.
I think it's funny—it's so obnoxious and over the top—but yes, my coworkers would not receive it as such, which is why I listen to the voice telling me not to do it.
"Actively prohibit open air drug use" and "make it easy to operate a small-to-medium business in the city" are out of style for reasons I can't quite comprehend. Police quiet strike? Anti-business attitudes? 🤷🏻♂️
Aw damn I'm sorry to hear that about Minneapolis. Unfortunately, it doesn't sound unique to your city; I've experienced similar things in parts of Los Angeles and San Francisco, and I imagine there are other great cities suffering from some assortment of the same issues too.
It's so hard to resist the urge to change my work email sign off to "THANK YOU FOR YOUR ATTENTION TO THIS MATTER"
Yeah as an urbanist who lives in Texas I'm curious as to why the businesses are closing, too. High rents? Onerous regulations? Crime? ICE? Etc.
And we should have more cool libraries and other cool public spaces people can exist in and not have to pay to enter.
Yikes 😬
Facebook friend convinced that some random YouTuber has evidence that state residents don't need to pay federal taxes and boy is he going to be upset in ten years when he owes back taxes plus interest.
i will vote for any candidate who offers up this slogan
We've replaced community with stuff.
Co-signed. It's the Grifter Age with the scam-lord president.
Do you know how bad takeout has to be for me not to eat it when it costs almost $20??? AND when I'm hungry????
Let me add that we were up all night with our sick baby, which involved a trip to the emergency room, so this fried chicken was serving double duty as sustenance and a much needed delight and it failed completely on both accounts.
We got food that was so bad from Gus's "world famous" fried chicken that it made me angry. Inedible! And it was takeout so we couldn't "return it to the kitchen."
Lifelong vendetta: activated.
It's so insane and we're all just expected to pretend it's normal? It's sick.
It's clear that the things having a child has radicalized me against are also the same things that are poisoning our society—leaving us well off materially but spiritually bereft and collectively lonely.
Having a kid has been cool as hell for me and my wife but let me add that it also made me extremely angry that we have organized our society in such a way that community, support, and knowledge sharing are a faint echo of how humans have lived and become parents since the dawn of time.
yeah dude. let's start by having the people in charge have scruples, morals, a backbone. what a disaster for the USA and for the world. cowards.
Welp it's official. The human being I'm most afraid of is the President of the United States.
