There are 2 diff formats that use this idea now "Penny dreadful" which is only cards that are valued at $0.01 or less (they snapshot a list periodically so cards don't randomly become illegal mid event)

and then "$30 value vintage" which is basically your format adjusted for inflation lol

i think this set is cool and should be exciting for 1v1 and commander players alike, great stuff

art is awesome, games didn't stall out, curves naturally fell into a good spot even for newer players. sequencing prepared cards is very cool, a ton of synergy lines that make you feel so smart

review of strixhaven pre release 9/10, everyone's deck felt strong, rares+ are impactful, but you can win without and still scrap up a good 2-1 finish if your lines are clean

bonus sheet cards were 🫠 to get hit by and a FEW too many "must answer 2drops" mana bases were bad even by limited standards

toki teleport is unreal and can only be stopped by fast lows

toki does not have a fast low

it becomes 2 people aggressively teleporting at each other hoping their opponent makes the first input error lol

second set was a steamroll, opponent played 3 colors and paid the price
