How to Actually Stop Mexico’s Cartels—Without Terrorist Labels  - CIP For a durable answer to cartels, policymakers should try approaches that limit violence and cartel power, instead of going to war.

In light of the events today in #Mexico here's a link to the piece I wrote last year on the consequences of Trump designating #cartels in Mexico as terrorist, and how to actually stop organised crime here (NOT what went down today)

‘No one deserves this’: Beaverton father dies after deportation to Mexico A Beaverton family is grieving after the father, who was detained and deported by ICE, has now died.

This 53 year old man who lived in my neighborhood w/no criminal record & who had been in the US for 30 years, was detained and thrown into a cold cell for days, caught pneumonia and COVID there and deported.

He finally died.

I am so angry.

So far, the BBC has not covered the “evaporation” of thousands of Gazans, as reported on by AJ. While they deliberately boycott that horror, six out of seven of their top world news stories are about the Global North (20% of the #world). Reuters, DW, AP, NYT etc also have not covered the #news.

Trump has invaded #Venezuela. This is the 1st time the US has used its own military to invade a South American country. President Trump made the purpose of the invasion very clear on Saturday: oil. The result will be disastrous. My latest @therealnews.com
