My father was always telling jokes and puns, and making people smile. Action and comedies were some of his favorite films. I still have a lot of love for dad jokes, and goofball movies like Airplane! (1980) and Top Secret! (1984) remind me of him the most. The sillier, the better.

Action/adventure is one of my favorite genres. Highly rewatchable film to this day. Marion rates highly in my favorite female characters of all time.

Indiana Jones inspired me to be an archeologist... until I learned it's really not that exciting. ๐ Still, I believe I can give this franchise a little credit for my fascination with history.

It was a little campy even then, but the themes of injustice, rebellion, and feminism stuck with me. The kids' adventure seemed hella cool to me back then (during the MTV generation), and I remember loving the soundtrack. Haven't seen it in a long time. Might be time for a rewatch.

While I'm thinking about Yeardley Smith, another 80s movie that enthralled me as a youth is The Legend of Billie Jean (1985).
I love EOM reactions. He is hilarious. "We cannot put this in the cocaine cabinet. This is something harder than cocaine.. this is meth.." ๐คฃ

Sharing a reaction for this one because, although I have nostalgic love for this movie (and all things Stephen King), it really is f'ing ridiculous ๐
youtu.be/tEonYmoQAqM?...
My mother is a huge Stephen King fan, so we watched all those movies when I was probably too young. GenX kid ๐ Also some of the earliest adult books I read.
Not just for the obvious reason, but because I was too little to understand why Tad was so scared of his closet. That one scene left me wondering for years wtf was in the closet.. and what scary thing might be in mine ๐

I can't remember the first horror movie I saw, but Cujo (1983) scared tf out of child me.
I can barely track who my favorite celebs are married to, let alone dating, and am often surprised to learn who their adult children are once I see them acting, directing, and whatnot.
For the longest time, I didn't know Colin Hanks name, and I called him generic Tom Hanks. ๐
I watch a random reel on fb sometimes, and I find it fascinating when it's a fan saying something like "this is when she learned he was cheating on her"...
How do people have time to learn these things?
I'm not very superstitious, but getting 666666 for a 2fa code made me feel like maybe I should be ๐ฌ
Slowly working my way up from earliest childhood memories to 'catalog' my favorite films, and maybe some movies that just left a mark on me even though I may have only seen them once or twice ~ #MyFilmLibrary
My parents didn't take me to any more movies in theater. Not sure why. We regularly visited Blockbuster though, and watched tons of movies at home.

E.T. was the first movie I remember seeing in a theater. My selection from concessions was grape Bubble Yum. It solidified my love of cute ugly creatures & an interest in aliens.
It goes hard on blaming the husband for her death, but something struck me as odd about the whole thing. Not sure how much was true, and what was speculation.
In any case, her death is incredibly tragic. She could have been winning Oscars by now. I feel like watching Girl, Interrupted again.
Watched a documentary about Brittany Murphy last night. What a sad story. I had no idea her husband was so weird & controlling. I think it was called What Happened, Brittany Murphy? Came out in 2021.

I love the Dodgeball movie, and I've been aware that it's a sport, but I never expected to see it on ESPN for some reason. I don't know why. Same reaction I had to seeing Cornhole tournaments during Covid. Niche sports going mainstream is fascinating.
The fact this is a professional sport makes me feel like I'm taking crazy pills. Not judging people who enjoy it, or participate. I'm just mind-blown because grade school me would have never expected this to be the world we live in. Fully realizing how much things have changed makes me feel so old.
Being at home during the day is so weird.. it makes me do weird things, like tune in to the Dodgeball All-Star Showcase on ESPN.
One thing I don't like about Bluesky compared to Threads is the text limit. Was annoying on Twitter, and it's still annoying.
