As somebody who has lived in the geek epicenter for many years, I will say that witnessing the Alamo Drafthouse be literally replaced by Rogan’s Comedy Mothership has been disarming.
Some of us are still happy to be part of the Tartan Horde.
I'm on the same page and also am finding I've run out of patience with the ambient Boomer nostalgia of '80s pop culture.
BREAKING: A jury finds that Ticketmaster and Live Nation had an anticompetitive monopoly over big concert venues.
It's impossible to post something more perfect than Hotlegs.
That's good to hear.
“Buy Me A Condo” has been a favorite of mine for years, it’s one of the songs that converted me to the church of Al.
She knew that one too! And made the connection the original song which she heard in her music class.
Agreed, and I’m even more in awe that she heard “Eat It” with no knowledge of “Beat It” and absolutely loved it, even asking me to play it for her tonight. Never would’ve guessed he’d be an artist that not only endured but that he can be appreciated without knowing his points of reference.

I’ve long suspected that the voting bloc just doesn’t care for Carey. Not sure if anything will change that.
It’s also amazing that Ed Sullivan hasn’t been inducted until now. Very happy that Jimmy Miller is also now part of the Hall.
They were the first act i checked off on my ballot but they always seemed like a longshot to me
My one experience with the QR Alamo was an abject disaster, not least because the theater’s WiFi blockers meant I could not access the menu even when I was on their home network.
Shocked that Sade made the cut, delighted that Gram Parsons is FINALLY in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. www.nytimes.com/2026/04/13/a...
True, and some of that was ambient noise in the 80s and beyond, helping reinforce the idea the good ol days were idyllic.
I also think you can't discount being raised on a diet of nostalgic media. Whether it's Spielberg, Stephen King or having oldies provide the soundtrack from everything from Goodfellas to Home Alone, romanticizing the past was commonplace.
