My dad died 30 years ago from pancreatic cancer. It was 3 months from diagnosis to death. It was the worst 6 weeks of my life. He didn’t tell the family (except for my mom) until he only those few weeks left. Horrible cancer. The new treatment sounds promising.

Meet our newest patient here at the Alaska Raptor Center, a Northern Pygmy Owl named King Owlbert by his rescuers. Owlbert arrived with a drooping wing, making flight difficult. We’ve given him a supportive wing wrap, plenty of tasty mice, and time to heal. #small #owls #adorable

Western grebe at Frank Lake, Alberta
I’ve always said that Frank Lake is my ‘happy place’ and this week while visiting there I overheard another person use the exact phrase to describe this birder’s paradise! Here’s a pic I took there of a western grebe. 🪶 #birds

Good news story!
Easter kingbird sitting on a piece of driftwood along the river waiting for supper to fly by.
I heard that a snowy egret, a rare visitor to the Calgary area, had been spotted near McKinnon Flats southeast of the city. Since it's only 35 minutes away, I decided to take a drive and see if I could spot thebird. No snowy egret, but many other birds including this Eastern kingbird. 🪶 #birds
