What an undertaking, and such a good learning project!
truly monstrous to be cutting funding to Imagination Library.
A DVD case of the movie Amelie, featuring the main character, a young, pale woman with dark hair and a sphinx-like smile.
Game night was canceled due to stormy weather, so we had a movie night instead. Amelie stands up as well as I remember - absolutely quirky, charming storytelling. Will probably re-listen to the soundtrack now too.
Y'all I β€οΈ U.
You don't actually need a "hydration drink" every day. Even if you are a gym-rat/runner like myself. You don't.
Super hot, humid days? 10+ miles? Then yes.
But most of you aren't doing that, are you?
I would like to introduce you to: Water.
This is excellent information that should be shared widely.
Love the bright stripes!
Lucy, it is truly the most absurd "toxic masculinity will make people do X instead of go to therapy." Save your brain cells.
I truly miss being the person who did not know what it meant.
You do not want to know.
An author I've heard highly recommended but never read! Got any good starter title recs?
Instead of asking chatgpt, why not ask a librarian? You'll get real answers and they won't tell you to kill yourself.
High five!
A photo of two new book acquisitions. On the left, a cheery yellow romance novel, Happy Endings by Chloe Liese, and on the right a moody fungal horror novel, Wife Shaped Bodies by Laura Cranehill.
Went to the bookstore to pick up one book on its release day, found a second eagerly awaited one from my TBR. I feel like this sums up my reading range very well π. Cute contemporary romance and unsettling feminist horror.
Aaah as if my anticipation couldn't be higher.
The cover reveal for my new book, THE WISDOM OF EMPERORS, is live on @kickstarter.com today. It's inspired by ancient history, particularly the story of Hadrian and Antinous. Footnotes, fantasy Romans, and fictional academia! www.kickstarter.com/projects/ale...
One of the reasons she's a favorite author π.
Cackling at "why is Kansas so flat."
I'm on year 6 with Lilletta and so appreciate not having to mess with period nonsense.
a tweet from @/ThefirstJonk on 2/19/25 that reads: "Oh so no death cab for ugly? Ugly has to walk?"
got a much needed long laugh from this
The famous Andor line is that "tyranny requires constant effort. It breaks, it leaks. Authority is brittle." Here is a perfect example of that through malicious compliance: Idaho forced the city of Boise to remove its Pride flags. So the city painted rainbows everywhere else.
Hi all, its your friendly neighborhood retired therapist here to remind you that the horrors persist and so do we!
Have you:
-had a glass of water or something liquid that is not caffeinated recently?
-used any calming or grounding techniques you like?
-eaten a food?
If not, do that now. π
Oh this is stunning. A bit outside budget at the moment, but maybe you need an opal shiny?

The two truths:
1) There is nothing wrong with porn, let people safely make it, let people safely enjoy it.
2) If you let people define porn as bad, authoritarians will ALWAYS expand the definition until their hands are around your neck.
Fingers crossed for you. My favorite socially acceptable fidget π
I'm still salty over those damn leather pants π€£
Today I learned I'm husband.
