Some fantastic unions out there rising to meet this moment.

Same theory used to determine police budgets nationwide.
This is the mantra I use to get out of bed in the morning
It’s warm enough tonight to have my bedroom window open and I just heard my neighbor singing in Spanish to her cat, and I’ll never understand xenophobes because how can this not be the most lovely, delightful thing to experience on a warm spring evening after a long, cold winter.
Madeline Davis (1940-2021), a Buffalo librarian. May her memory be a blessing.

Ngl this may be my all time favorite interaction on this site so far
I work with libraries and across the board libraries are having their budgets cut while being asked to be an even greater resource for struggling communities. I would love to see a city, especially NYC, go all in on support rather than cutting already tight budgets. It's such a missed opportunity.
I would submit that a gerrymander by politicians saying fuck the voters and one by voters saying fuck the politicians are two wholly different animals
I know he was literally like “bitch can’t you read?? We’re nesting here!”
Visited a nearby college last week and I noticed they had an entire green area roped off. When I approached it I heard angry shrieking, and then saw the “killdeer nesting” sign, with the angry killdeer standing next to it. I literally squealed in delight.
His broken promises about library funding have been deeply disappointing, but despite that I am also still rooting for him. I’m a firm believer that rooting for a politician and bullying them are not mutually exclusive.
PragerU CEO here is doing some blatant misinformation scaremongering with this ad for a new comic for "middle readers."
Gender Queer has never been marketed to middle grade. It is explicitly marketed as an adult comic by the publisher and librarians identified as having YA cross appeal.
#libcomix
This is horrific. I feel physically ill.

Make boolean search great again!
My first stop when I found out a dean got fired was the student workers 😂
I’m envisioning a new marketing campaign: “the library: learn about it here before it’s on Yikyak.”
When university libraries say they’re information centers, we mean ALL information.
An unintended benefit of being a librarian with faculty status is that faculty see us as colleagues but staff see us as “non-professors”, so we’re told all the campus gossip from both faculty AND staff.
Study: "Gen Z workers remain skeptical of AI’s role in producing reliable work, with more confidence placed in human‑only output than in AI‑assisted contributions. About seven in 10 workers (69%) say they trust work completed without AI while 28% say they trust AI‑assisted work."
Two Mourning Doves at a bird feeder with a built-in camera. One dove is in profile, very close to the camera, and appears to be looking at it, and the other dove is further back, but also looks like it’s staring straight into the lens.
These two Mourning Doves at my feeder cam look like they just rang my doorbell because Tony Soprano sent them to collect a debt I owe.
Saying "no man, you don't get to win this time" to evil people who have the power of the entire corrupt government behind them has to feel pretty fucking good
Sorry to be overly sincere for a second, but here's why we decided to persevere through all of the bullshit and take over InfoWars.
There's just gotta be a line somewhere.
Thank you @pablo.show for letting me talk so openly about this.
Labor Secretary Lori Chavez-DeRemer, who was under internal investigation, is leaving her position. She becomes the third cabinet departure of President Trump's second term.
The motto is StoryCorps was "listening is an act of love." CONSCIOUS LISTENING, intimate listening!
I feel sick thinking that this phrase is being used as cover to make people think that list listening all the time (Siri, Alexa, Prego, etc.) is also an act of love.
As a former StoryCorps facilitator, this is fucking disgusting.
End the project already, Dave.
You created a good model: you encouraged people to sit and do oral history for 20 yrs.
Turning StoryCorps into a surveillance capitalism nightmare is not worth the money to keep the project going.
Tip: organize your workplace and watch ducks.
Is today World Simpsons Day?? I’m disappointed in myself that I didn’t know that.
A screenshot of Krusty the Clown looking defeated and tired. He’s speaking into a mic and says “that just kept going, huh?” The top text says “me whenever a skeet of mine goes viral”
I always disappear for a bit when a post of mine goes viral because it stresses me out, so I have returned to a bunch of new followers. Hello! I’m pretty sure you will be disappointed in me 😂. I’m mostly just here to pal around with other librarians.
