I thought I owned the 4K of STARGATE. I wanted to watch it tonight, but I guess I must've dreamt it. I do have an annual subscription to MGM+ and found it there. It's a very nice version of the movie; it looks fantastic!

Hopefully it's not raining while I'm there. I'll be walking from my hotel to the stadium each night. I really hate that Marriott closed down (and sold?) the Sheraton that was there. I really like that place, and its proximity to Global Life. Now I'm walking across IH-30.
Back on the road tomorrow afternoon. Heading to Arlington this time for the three Rangers Baseball games I bought during their Black Friday sale last November. $10 each for upper-level seats behind Home Plate! Then a conference up at UNT all day Saturday.
Southwest has a 40% sale going on now. For some reason, the code, FLOWERS, doesn't work for my trip to Indy for DCI Championship Week, but it takes $75 off the flight back. Might just buy that one now and buy the flight over later, hoping the price comes down.
Tonight's movie is an Early Access Screening of HOKUM at the Drafthouse.
I think it was already the Scream Unseen at other chains last night.
Well, at least you're somewhat prepared for the upcoming apocalypse.
At my screening, there was a lot of clapping at the beginning and end of the credits, with more than a couple of dozen people still in the theater. I heard some folks remarking that theaters should allow people to dance throughout the movie. That would be interesting.
I did enjoy MICHAEL last night, but I was expecting it to be very favorable and mostly about music (through 1988). That being said, if you choose to see it in a theater, see it in the loudest possible theater you can: Dolby, HDR by Barco, IMAX, whatever. Lots of music in this one!
MAUL: SHADOW LORD does not disappoint! Still have a few more episodes left, but it's unfortunate we won't get Season 2 until 2035.
Well, I was disappointed not to see him play with the Dallas Symphony Orchestra last month, but at least I'll see him in Phoenix.
There is a setting to increase your chances of a Waymo in the Uber app, but that's still no guarantee.
Someone asked this on the other site, and I had the same question. They opened up their map to our area, but there's no dedicated Waymo option. The answer ended up being, yes, you may not get a Waymo. You may end up with a Tesla (which I definitely don't want).
* I have 8 nights I can ask for through the end of the year. Phoenix will be 3, then 2 for San Antonio (corner suite), then maybe the rest in Indy.
Also, while looking through my upcoming trips, I revisited downtown Phoenix for PFF and saw that the Westin prices had come down to what I'm used to. So now I'm back at the Westin Downtown Phoenix. Going to ask for my upgrade* and hopefully get that awesome corner room again. I love that hotel.
We are just 3 months away from the DCI Southwestern Championships in San Antonio! How 'bout that!?
I realized that while going through my hotel reservations over that period. Booked my downtown SA hotel; I am currently at the Marriott Riverwalk, but want the Rivercenter if prices come down there.
I was invited to see MICHAEL at a screening tomorrow night. It's at the AMC near me, so I'm assuming it's playing in the IMAX there.
And I'm trying to petition my employer to pay my way to the posit(conf) 2026 in Houston in September. Never been, but I imagine that would really bring me down several notches.
One thing that PyTexas does every year: it reminds me that I know shit about Python. ๐
Ah, well. I do what I can, and I continually learn. There really isn't much more to Python life than that.
Got really chilly this afternoon. I was expecting a cold front, but, you know, not THAT cold.
While in downtown Austin, might as well stop by Coopers BBQ for lunch. But holy smacks, that is some expensive Q.
$500 round-trip for Choice seating is not what I would consider a "low" fare. ๐๐ก
Went to a free Microsoft Tutorial yesterday afternoon for PyTexas and ended up sitting next to a Texas A&M student who drove in for the conference. He's an Electrical Engineering sophomore (Class of '28). He also happened to be in town to pitch a start-up idea to a lawyer in town. As you do.
Even though I love that Austin is home to the largest IMAX theater in Texas, I hate that there's no reserved seating. Line outside is already very long with an hour until the movie starts. I'm just glad I got here as early as I did, even after the PyTexas/Microsoft tutorial.
According to Swarm, it's been exactly 3 years since I've been to this Safelite, so yes, 3 years since I had to replace my windshield on my previous vehicle.
When I went to see TMNT 2 last month, THE SHEEP DETECTIVES trailer played in front of it. At the end of it, a little girl somewhere in the theater started loudly giggling like crazy. Lots of laughs and "aw, how cute!" from the rest of the audience. It looks silly, but I do wonder how it will do.
On the subject of Boomers staying in elected seats, my 80-year-old uncle is currently seeking re-election on a local level. Low stakes, but I'm just like, why? Retire, man, retire! Several cousins are advertising for him on FB, but I personally would not elect him. Yes, it's family, but nope.
Anybody else first think, "the CIA?" That would be cool, yes?
FWIW, lots of folks are still mostly wrong about what they think will happen in the finale. But y'all will see tomorrow night.
I'm a little surprised that I haven't seen anyone spoil THE PITT finale from the Monday night screenings. Pretty impressive, really (or I'm just not seeing it; I follow lots of folks who would be very angry if there were spoilers).
I read this as TACO University. Unfortunate ticker, really, especially these days.
And Shell Company sounds criminal, doesn't it? I've seen too many movies.
