A starfield filled with thousands of stars and shining clouds of dust. The Milky Way\u2019s elegant spiral structure is dominated by just two arms wrapping off the ends of a central bar of stars. A demoscene plasma effect rendered using ASCII characters
So I'm vibe-coding another agent that can vibe-code. Just added a run_code tool that uses Coudflare Dynamic Workers. I wanted to take it for a first spin. My agent, knowing me a bit, decided on rendering a plasma effect instead of doing something simple like a Hello World :)

you're absolutely right that the ASCII art is broken! let me perfect it by calculating font rendering widths on a typical desktop and required number of spaces to get a pixel perfect result. here it is:

A Cryptography Engineer’s Perspective on Quantum Computing Timelines
The risk that cryptographically-relevant quantum computers materialize within the next few years is now high enough to be dispositive, unfortunately.
Two papers came out last week that suggest classical asymmetric cryptography might indeed be broken by quantum computers in just a few years.
That means we need to ship post-quantum crypto now, with the tools we have: ML-KEM and ML-DSA. I didn't think PQ auth was so urgent until recently.

ICT building at Tehran's Sharif University of Technology reduced to rubble after more US-Israeli strikes
An airstrike hit Monday an information and communication technology building at Tehran's Sharif University of Technology, a professor there said.
The AP is reporting that Sharif University in Tehran has been bombed.
This is Maryam Mirzakhani’s alma mater — the first woman to win a Fields Medal in math, and only one of two so far.
The university is also a leading center of opposition to the government.

NASA isn't why the US doesn't have universal healthcare, or a social safety net. The US doesn't have those things because politicians with the power to provide them choose specifically not to (with varying levels of support from voters). Enthusiasm for human spaceflight doesn't drive that choice.

Looking through one of the four windows of the Orion spacecraft, a tiny crescent Earth is illuminated against the blackness of space and grows smaller as the crew journeys closer to the Moon. Part of the window edge is visible; the rest is darkness. [Alt-text slightly revised from ESA/NASA version]

this is why overgeneralized stigmatization of AI is bad. not everything AI helps is AI slop. not everything written without help of AI is a work of art. it’s not easy, but we need to be more nuanced about these things.

This image of home just came down from the Artemis II crew.
Taken after their translunar injection burn, there are aurorae at top right and lower left, and zodiacal light at lower right.

Here is a video demonstrating how truly awful the encryption implementation is in TeleGuard, a 'secure' messaging app with more than 1 million downloads. App uploads users private keys to company server; this shows the company is able to decrypt messages. Details: www.404media.co/a-secure-cha...

a good binary framing is something people seem to love a lot. create two scenarios. contrast them w conviction. it's clear what side you should be on. it's called "insightful" and "well articulated".
give me the murky in-betweens, the multiplicity, the uncertainty, the chaos. that's where i thrive.

chatgpt recommended me to use this, and it fixed it (despite having been restored to its tiny state). so my assumption about dev's logic was probably wrong. there was something else at play there.

i can't even resize the window by using an external tool to send WM_RESIZE commands to the process because it doesn't handle resize properly due to that minWidth check.

the same tiny window with the rest of the screen looks painted with a solid blue color instead of the window's dark grey.
weirdly, docking on left or right side doesn't help. apparently, the resize operation caused by docking also rejects the resize operation because the minWidth check dev added. this is how it looks docked. maximize works because it uses a different window message on win32 API.

i can maximize it by double clicking on the not-very-apparent title bar (or with win+up arrow), but i don't want it full screen. that's just too big. whenever i try to resize it back, it gets locked in this miniscule form.

the settings window on windows 11 somehow got too small after an update that i can't resize it back. that's because a dev added the check for "if (newWidth < minWidth) { rejectResize(); }" but they forgot to add "if (currentWidth < minWidth) { resizeToMinWidth(); }" before, so i can't fix this.
