It's so funny to me that right-wingers love to pretend to love the Middle Ages and the Crusades and all that and then complain that the Pope shouldn't get involved in politics.

There is no excuse for downplaying or eliding the insanity of Trump’s morning post. It is the most unhinged public comment by a president in US history and should be reported and remarked upon as such.

The single worst @amtrak.com experience I've ever had in my life. An hour late with no explanation. None of the power outlets work. No one ever checked my ticket. We just spent 45 minutes sitting in Philadelphia with no explanation. A Greyhound bus would be more pleasant.

This NYT column by @polgreen.bsky.social is the truest thing I've ever seen about the REAL reason public trust in the media collapsed

The data of several hundred thousand readers canceling their subscriptions didn’t seem to have much impact.

Few cities need tenacious local journalism more than Washington does right now, given the ravages of the Trump years and the threat to home rule. Given that Jeff Bezos has now destroyed the Washington Post, it's up to journalism funders to help strengthen sites like the 51st and incubate new ones.

No actual guidance from DCPS of course, but I'm seeing both a two-hour delay and school starts at 10 a.m. A two-hour delay would be 11 a.m.

You might suggest to your colleagues at DCPS that they let parents know rather than putting out glossy videos of the chancellor. We've had no official word and there are conflicting reports on social media of when school will actually start.

Good to see Mario Cristobal has Miami playing old school Miami football. He just needs a bit more attention to cheap shots, targeting and late hits, which seemed to be the main strategy against IU. Go Hoosiers!

I was 10 months sober on Christmas 1987 when my dad had a medical collapse from which he would not recover. I flew to Louisville and for 3 months, a room of total strangers at a local 12-step club kept me going, one day at a time, until he died in February.

If he'd been savvy and not a moral coward, Bill Cassidy would be celebrated tonight as the guy who stood up to Trump and saved public health, and sacrificed his Senate seat to do the right thing. But, instead, he'll just be remembered as a cowardly loser with a lot of blood on his hands.

Incredible year for Ole Miss. Almost reached the national championship with a team that can’t tackle or pass defend.

At a moment like this, you just have to be grateful that CBS News loves America without apology.

A biting critique of Big Philanthropy and local news.

"These funders — including the American Journalism Project, which drove the creation of Houston Landing — have increasingly been picking the winners and losers in American journalism, with no consequences when their calls go badly wrong."

Did Alabama do any offensive preparation for this game? If so, it’s not yet apparent.

Really at the holidays, what could be better

And to try to blackmail the Ole Miss administration to let him keep coaching by threatening to take his whole staff to Baton Rouge. Deeply Biblical. He's all about character.

He's a selfish child who will get eaten alive in Baton Rouge. It's one thing to score a lot of points but play no defense and lead the conference in penalties every year in Oxford. Not in Death Valley. He will lose to better coached, more physical teams, as he always has.

Just a friendly reminder as we go into the holidays:

Folks don't have to explain to you why they don't drink.

If you offer them a drink and they decline, don't ask them why. It's not your business.

Just offer them something without alcohol to drink instead. And move on.
