i really gotta commend the cyberpunk tcg art direction (sad i cant find them here to show everyone) because throughout all the gorgeous pieces in different artstyles the cohesion is superb! everything fits together despite different styles and i gotta commend that, truly
the monkeys do be a little worrying, but idt thats more evil than neuralink on apes
all this to say the drama between the people in the aquarium feels a lot more real and well characterised than basically anything in the main game, because theyre written to be real people not mascots or plot devices
-and the context of the previous games, in AA4 you could write phoenix going through it based on the orevious trilogy and his experiences and emotional reactions to things, in AA5 almost all of it is stripped away for most returning characters and never given for new ones
its also telling that when i read fanfiction about AA1-4 a lot of it is inserting more context in the missing blanks, not rewriting the whole thing
to have a similar fanfic about AA5 would require a complete rewrite somethings because the basic facts of the game ignore a lot of characterisation-
phoenix barely reacting when his DAUGHTER is held hostage vs being a complete wreck with maya
its also absolutely funny how little relevance junie has to anything she couldve been replaced by anyone
it has themes and its not afraid to bash you over the head with them
and its kinda sad considering the 1st game in the trilogy is the best theyve ever done but they just backtracked on almost everything that made it good
it rly felt like it was so focused on retconning and going from A to Z that it ignored the rest of the alphabet (the rest of the alphabet makes ace attorney good)
still managed a trucy panty joke in there tho π© i was so hoping theyd clear all my expectations
