Mint is very easy as well for sure. I don't think I'd recommend base Ubuntu at this point tbh, not because it's terrible but because for home computers there's better stuff out there.

No, not paying money, free as in libre not free as in beer. SteamOS isn't something you should install on your personal computer for various reasons, but Bazzite is as close as you can get for non-steamdecks and I'm told it's fantastic. There's other good options too like cachyos and such.

I use arch but the general rule with nvidia is that the new stuff is poorly supported but as it ages the support gets better. I don't think you'd have too terrible of a time on most distro as long as they're not super strict about nonfree software

The 2060 will be very well supported by this point. I use a 1070 in my Linux box and it works a dream. I will coach you through a Linux install if you need it.
