The entire issue with the NDIS is that a generation of Australians (including almost everyone working in the political media) have become indoctrinated to believe the private sector is more efficient than the private sector.
Privatize disability care? What *could* go wrong???
Today I learned my dad was saying "a wigwam for a goose's bridle" not BRIDAL and now I have to rethink everything I have ever held to be true.
Wigwam was one of Dad's phrases, mostly when he didn't know the answer to something. Although up until this minute I thought it was bridal, not bridle! Which makes more sense. I've had images of a goose in a bridal veil in my head for 50+ years!
Randa Abdel-Fattah.
Grace Tame.
Yassmin Abdel-Magied.
Brittany Higgins.
Antoinette Lattouf.
Jacinda Ardern.
In Opposition, Anthony Albanese offered the Nation a Royal Commission into the Australian media. Now that Albanese is in power, maybe it's all become too
difficult.

Have to admit, I am very tired of hearing about "American lives" when tens of thousands of non-Americans, mostly people of colour, have died as a direct result of this administration. (My favourite US politics podcast is Democracy-ish with @wajali.bsky.social and @daniellemoodie.bsky.social)
Harrassment of women is the Oz's raison d'etre, but even by their standards this hate campaign against Dr Randa Abdel-Fattah is off the charts. I have known Randa for more than 20 years, and I fear deeply for her safety.
Bloody hell I’ve missed you Jorts. What a balm to the soul you are. How’s Jean?
Every single one of the astronauts who went to the moon and back on Artemis II was educated at a public school.
Thinking of the teachers who poured into Reid Wiseman, Victor Glover, Christina Koch, and Jeremy Hansen tonight. You helped send a kid to the moon!
🌕 💛
In case you need a reminder that there is still goodness in the world.
Alexis sits down with me for a powerful conversation on Indigenous wisdom, trauma, empathy, and staying human in a brutal time.
Please watch, like, and share this episode of @thesacredslope.bsky.social :
@johnfugelsang.bsky.social makes a special appearance as well.

I’m really missing my dad right now. Although I am so grateful he’s not around to see this hellhole we’ve made of the world.
Helpful! Thanks! I’ll just give myself a good slapping and forget about the deaths of thousands of brown people 👍🏼
Trump announces his intention to drop a nuclear bomb on Iran.
Not long after DT first came into power, I had a dream of him letting loose a nuclear bomb. And now here we go. Nice knowing you.
🇱🇧 Lebanese elderly struggle in Beirut's largest shelter
Elderly Lebanese people displaced by the conflict with Israel live in tents at Beirut stadium, struggling with reduced access to washing and toilet facilities, and fears over returning home.
Words that a r*pist would use.

Beautiful!
I think you might need to consider SNORTAGE AKIMBO FOLDEROL personally
John and Jill Farnham
Marlo Thomas and Phil Donohue
It’s been downhill ever since
Reading a headline on a celebrity man's take on how men can be better. Last time I saw him he was 'joking' to a big corporate gig audience, rating pupils at girls' schools of Melbourne. He said one school's girls were OK to have sex with, another provided girlfriends & one had girls you married.
Well, it’s a novelty song but fun. There’s a YouTube channel with more of their songs. I’m not surprised you didn’t come across them, they were largely a uni band although they did gigs in the inner city a fair bit (Chippendale etc). Those were the days Sydney had live music!
Yes the world has gone to 💩 but at least there’s this:

This is him with my friends’ band, Penguins on Safari:

Haha. I had a terrible crush on him, well before he was famous. We were both studying English Lit so talked about that a bit. I actually remember him as a weird combination of ego and awkward.
Tim Freedman from The Whitlams singing from behind a piano, arms flung wide.
With the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra. I kind of knew Tim when he was in a band with friends of mine in the 80s. Real thrill to see The Whitlams after all these years.
