Sometimes I wonder what it’s like to be born in a «lucky-good» time/country and live there happily your whole life, with your parents and friends nearby 🤯

Working 20+ years in the same company…

Wow, I see one government entity gave me edit rights in their CMS. Is this a test? 💁‍♀️

It’s exhausting work, mixed with some shame that you can not do more things in parallel

It’s a pity I can’t really put something like: “Senior Director of Domestic Operations & Feline Management” on my CV

State of AI 2026 Take the State of AI survey

Looking at the data I've collected so far for the State of AI survey (ongoing), people are definitely using AI more and more! Every single datapoint is more or less pointing in that same direction.

You can take the survey here:

People often forget to check around them. They might drive in your blind spot or suddenly merge right into you 🥲 oh that’s scary!

So I do my best to avoid it, but it’s difficult 🥹

I’m really glad I started learning to drive back in the Netherlands before moving. Even though I really didn’t like my driving instructor - I know the basics of safe driving.

In the NL, driving on the highway feels much safer than driving in the city. Here - it’s the opposite.

And I didn't want a small car (even if it’s easier to drive and park) because I have some hiking plans, sooo 🫣👀

So much has happened since the beginning of this year. The thing that scared me most 🧠 - it’s driving.

Whole my life I did my best to avoid it, but you really can’t get around without a car in the U.S.

Btw I stopped being surprised by how crazy the world can get some time ago, and for my own sanity I’ve learned not to plan any travels for late February - March. It helps a bit 🤝

I’ve been quiet lately to focus on a few personal things - and I’ll probably need another month or so. Everything is good though. Happy birthday to me 🥂🫡🫂

From the other side… we expected our home belongings from NL at the beginning of December…hopefully, we will receive them around January 🤞
And they forgot to arrange something 🥲
With Dutch services, I usually had to multiply the promised time by at least 2

Maybe not their fault, but… suspicious 😒

Tomorrow will be 2 weeks in the U.S.
It’s still early, but it feels like a parallel reality or different planet- familiar, yet VERY different (like football 😁 or the same food brands tasting different)

#1 I noticed : the service here understands the concept of underpromising and overdelivering🫂

Anyway. Fixed 🫂

I’m still waiting for the day AI finally fixes all these broken websites and services I/you/we have to use 🕰️

Just like many people promised it would 👌

In my dreams - yes 😄
But ask me again in a few months

No worries - a year from now I might be on a different continent again, you never know 👀😄

📦 Moving to the US soon 🇺🇸 🥂 - so I’m selling a few things we *very unfortunately* can’t take with us.

You know… in the US, the power standard is different (something like 110-120V vs 230-240V in Europe), so some electronics aren’t compatible without bulky adapters 🥲🥲🥲

I will post it here 🔜

Every once in a while I try to make a purchase on the mobile version of the website - and nothing works 🙃

It’s an absolute nightmare. I hope their analytics will just say that customers «prefer» desktop

What if everything started going wrong the moment I stopped watching Star Wars every year… I stopped doing this about 5-6 years ago 👀🫣

I hope not!

Страшно делать громкие заявления, пока этого не случилось, но - да, скорее всего в США.

Посмотрим как пойдет 🫣😅

After 1,5 years of pain and chemotherapy, my mom passed away today. I want to share this with someone, but I’m not ready to talk about it.

Just 59 years old. So unfair.

(no need to say anything please)

I almost never go to my GP (it’ll go away by itself), but when I do - only if I’m in real pain - I wait about 2 weeks for the GP appointment, and then at least another 1,5 months for a specialist (aka real doctor 😁)

There are many good things in the Netherlands, but not this one

Reshaped is now open-source - Reshaped After five years of closed-source, Reshaped is finally open for all – both in React and Figma.

When starting Reshaped, having a paid license kept me going but also felt wrong sometimes. I wanted to give back more to the community. After 5 years – it is finally happening. Reshaped React and Figma libraries are now open-source.

I’m going to have at least 4 farewell parties - one for each full year I’ve been at the company 😁
Tomorrow is the second one 🤝💁🏻‍♀️
