Does that album sound as good as it looks?

I realize I'm a bit late to this...but that's what happens sometimes when you live on the other side of the world...the new Maggie Koerner album is out (since November) and it is awesome! Buy it!
I see your Ladyhawk, and raise you Ladyhawke...
Love this album. And a very nice cover of Iggy’s “The Passenger,” used to great affect in the closing credits of “I, Tonya.”

And the bonus of all this, is that I get to use iTunes again instead of the abomination that is the Apple Music app in macOS Tahoe.
A desk with an Apple Cinema Display, Mac Pro, and Mac mini, along with speakers and some audio equipment. The monitor is displaying the macOS Mojave desktop with iTunes open.
With Screen Sharing turned on, I don't even need a KVM switch or two sets of peripherals to go between my M1 Mac mini and the Mac Pro (though it does help to have a fallback keyboard, mouse and monitor connection for those times when the Screen Sharing lag impacts productivity).

Yes, a base model 2020 M1 Mac mini will out perform this computer on most tasks.. But one thing that all modern Macs can't do that this one can, is run macOS Mojave, the last Mac operating system to support 32-bit programs, of which Aperture is one.

So last month, I went on eBay and got myself a decently spec'ed 2013 Mac Pro...yes the notorious Trash Can Mac. The one I bought (for less than two months of Adobe Creative Cloud) came with the mid-tier 6-Core CPU, 64GB of RAM, and a 1TB SSD.
A screenshot of Apple Aperture showing the photo browser, filled with black and white film scans from a wedding.
🧵 I had a revelation about a month ago regarding my workflow for editing my photography. I was happiest when I was using Apple Aperture. When Apple discontinued the app, like many, I had to move to Lightroom. I was never happy with it. And I hated the subscription model.
#NCBD Quick Pick: Missed out on the recent Magik series that our host @jandrewscott.com was collecting like crazy? Here's a second chance to snag the last 5 issues in trade and see for yourself if it was a "trick" or a "treat"!
And I have it all running out of the old machine into my Schitt Modi DAC via the combined optical digital audio output/analog line out minijack (remember when Apple computers had those as standard?). It literally is music to my ears!
The UI is so much better. I copied my music library over to the old Mac (lots of my stuff isn't available on streaming), and am connecting to the machine through screen sharing, giving me the best of both worlds; modern Apple silicon computing with classic iTunes music curation.
A screen shot of macOS Mojave with the iTunes app opened in the center of the desktop, showing album view with The Smiths "Rank" highlighted.
I hadn't realized how bad it got until I had to install macOS Mojave on an old machine to support some 32-bit programs I needed to run. Just look at this interface! Beautiful, clean, sensible. Search bars that work and play buttons at the top of the app where they should be.
🧵 The new Apple Music app for macOS Tahoe is so bad. A bad combination of ugly Mac UX crammed into what is quite clearly an iPad app poorly ported to the Mac. It's been getting progressively worse iteration after iteration since Apple ditched iTunes in macOS Catalina and now is completely unusable.

And if you can, get an early pressing. The remasters and reissues vary drastically in quality and many are just horrible.

Thank you! I feel seen.
