Local zoning is the way! A lot of these are being stopped or stalled by neighborhood organizing.
These warehouses often need to be purchased, permitted, approved for occupancy and specs. Each one of those steps can be interrupted.
Ppl are pressuring corps not to sell, counties to deny permits, etc

Enjoyed today's UCLA Luskin Summit, especially the debate between the panels opposing and supporting SB 79. Shout out to Michael Storper referencing Peter Hall's book Great Planning Disasters and Mike Manville working in the term "tautology" into this housing debate.

Originally written in 2004 & revised in 2026, my piece “The End of Geography?” is published on @medium.com. I consider claims alleging geography’s demise in the context of territorial space vs cyberspace. It’s the latest entry in my Student Papers Archive.

Architect Frank Gehry passed away on December 5th. He was an inspiration to me as a 90s architecture student at East LA College & SCI-Arc. I published this commemorating his influence. Check out my 1996 residential design created in the spirit of Frank Gehry

Uh well a lot of adjunct faculty are about to lose their jobs for no reason except someone else’s vanity—including myself. This is to say if anyone needs someone with 10 years of experience teaching urban design criticism, climate change narratives, writing for artists, etc…I am available.
Not at my past architecture professor laughing at me when I proposed to him I wanted to more deeply look into the needs of women and vulnerable in urban planning.
What happens when a whole country finds itself internet-less? Superb long-read by @samanthsubramanian.bsky.social, who visited Tonga after a volcanic eruption cut the cable that linked the archipelago to the rest of the world.

We've lost a bright shining light. Yasmin Noriega was pursuing her Bachelor’s in Urban & Regional Planning at Cal Poly Pomona. This is an immense loss. She leaves a legacy of warmth, positivity, & community love. Please consider helping Yasmin's family in this difficult time. TY
