It was so great! I’m sad I was virtual and missed hearing about your get into trouble projects

How did 2.5 million people lose access to SNAP within just 5 months? CBPP's @tyjonescox.bsky.social explains the major provisions of the harmful Republican megabill (H.R. 1) that are already harming communities across the country, and will threaten access to food assistance for many more.
“Come join the military. Now you could die in combat OR from a flu outbreak”
i'm not saying that the Democrats should immediately announce a Universal Basic Pierogis campaign but I'm not not saying that
Baltimore's community fridge network could use some love, especially the ones on the West Side. Please consider filling them up. www.thebanner.com/opinion/colu...
💯
Hell yes
Without starting a fight, may I just say that if you deeply and profoundly understand the need for human contact as a result of Covid, you might consider doing something to help the people still at high risk from Covid access it, instead of acting in ways that excludes and isolates them.

At a time when mass surveillance and autonomous weapons companies like Palantir are openly announcing their plans for violent world domination, it is crucial that our attempts at “big tech reform” don’t actually give them more power—ie via government mandated age verification/identity software
I don’t think we talk nearly enough about the fact that corporations like Amazon, don’t pay a single cent to maintain the roads they use, the transportation system they use, the courts they use, they pay nothing for the infrastructure that is absolutely critical to their business.
WE Pay for
this is a problem I have when people, particularly women, are humble. The well intentioned response is often “take credit, you did this on your own” but actually I think women’s humility and understanding we do nothing alone is good actually and copying macho individualism is stupid + wrong
Why do I live in a timeline where mainstream media is conducting a popularity contest between the Pope and the President of the U.S.?
Breaking: HHS’s ban on gender-affirming care is struck down. Rarely have I read a ruling this sharply worded.
“This case is one of a long list of examples of how a leader’s wanton disregard for the rule of law causes very real harm to very real people.”

In reality I think it’s mostly the white supremacy of it all, but as the child of people who have *feelings* about my women’s studies degree and subsequent critical thinking skills on gender, a lot of shit looks real familiar
Sometimes I wonder how many of them have a daughter/niece/godchild/etc that took some gender studies classes and called them on their shit, and their politics are actually motivated by that almost entirely
Frustration with dating = frustration with women having rights and being their own whole, not subservient people
just spitballing here but one thing that might turn down the temperature is top CEOs not doing and saying insane and extremely harmful things all the time, such as enthusiastically embracing fascist movements
Have definitely had this experience!
Or when a regular doc office takes my blood pressure and HR after I just walked back to the room, having to talk them down and convince them to wait 5 mins and try again

Watching medical dramas when you have POTS is kinda like having super powers, because when the medical staff say things like
“Tachycardic at 115”
You can be like “you think that’s tachycardic? Let me show you what I can do.”
OpenAI: We’re burning money like the Joker. A miracle needs to happen for us to turn a profit
Microsoft: Please please use our AI systems, we’re teetering on the edge here
Anthropic: I wonder what’ll kill us first: lawsuits, regulations or model collapse
Media and universities: AI is here to stay
Students in the Texas Tech system (64k, give or take) are now PROHIBITED from researching or writing anything "centered on" sexual orientation or gender identity as part of an undergrad honors or graduate thesis. Not faculty, mind you. Students.
In a blatant 1st Amendment violation, students in the Texas Tech University system are completely banned from researching or writing anything related to sexual orientation or gender identity as part of their thesis.
I just read the detailed CNN report about how many men go online seeking instructions and videos of drug-assisted sexual assault and now I understand why so many women choose the bear
Like ok, apologize for your mistakes, but how do you get to the year 2026 without realizing how harmful the r-word is?
Grateful for @juliametraux.bsky.social’s reporting, as always
Republicans are fine with “diversity” as long as conservatives get an edge in hiring. Appalling to see Harvard kowtowing to this administration like this.
I don’t wanna see Elise Stefanik as a politician, but we all have to see shit we don’t like
I really can’t wait to watch PA voters send Fetterman the f home
It’s hard not to see Vance’s criticism of the Pope’s theological bona fides as just silly hubris.
But I also see it as a stress test of sorts — can they manipulate sentiment against a pontiff. Not for Trump’s interests. More likely for Thiel’s.
The real issue is that police shouldn't jump to be trigger/arrest-happy. Creating lists/designations of acceptable disabled people to leave alone doesn't fix that problem + civil liberty concerns of what governments will do with said lists.
