"One of those...'cool' guys..."
"...like a slice of butter meltin' on a big 'ol pile of flapjacks."
Carney's full address:
“'We can control what happens here. We can build a stronger country that can withstand disruptions from aboard.' Carney said simply hoping the 'United States will return to normal' is not a feasible strategy. 'Hope isn’t a plan and nostalgia is not a strategy,' he said."

The best defence is dialogue. The second best defence is distance.
Pepper spray should be tried once every few months to ensure the propellant inside is still good. Capsaicin/CS gas won't go bad, the pew pew does. If it doesn't shoot 2/3 feet (1/2 meter) /w no wind, throw it out. And pocket knives are terrible for self-defense (nobody wins a knife fight).
A socially acceptable jobs program for unemployed con artists who spent decades blowing dog whistles, and refuse to own their mistakes.
It's named "Sauron," the villain in LOTR?
It sounds like you're forgetting your faith (of the heart)...
The Strait of Hormuz is a broken crapper at a music festival. Everyone told you to avoid it, and not to eat the Sloppy Joe from the sketchy van in the parking lot, but you did it anyway. Now, you're stuck in the foul, overflowing porta-toilet with twisted bowels as wasps buzz your vulnerable bits.
Just a reminder that this exists.
Roddy Piper standing in a wrestling ring, wearing a white T-shirt with red trim and the word Hot Rod in stylized lettering across the chest. He has shoulder-length light brown hair and is smiling broadly with his hands on his hips. He is also wearing a red plaid kilt, a black belt, and white wristbands. Red ring ropes run across the foreground, and the background is dark, suggesting an arena setting with subdued lighting.
On this day in 1954, Roddy Piper was born in Saskatoon.
Raised in Winnipeg, he went on to become one of the most famous and greatest professional wrestlers in the world. He was also an actor, appearing in They Live and It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia. He died in 2015.
A flow chart with three boxes. The first box says, " Do you live in Chicago?" The second box says, "No." The third box says, "STFU about Chicago."
A flowchart titled, Flowchart for Dick pics. The first box says, "Should I send this?" The second box says, "No."
And here's a regular reminder about commenting on Chicago, and sending dick pics, respectively.
I made a handy flow chart for people who regularly have to deal with the international right-wing terror campaign against New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani:
"The photo Clawson 'got' is of astronaut Christina Koch in a moment of unreadable reflection, or perhaps just exhaustion, in the very final moments of her journey as the first woman to travel to the moon..."
It's sticky.
"We're serious about Loony Tunes cosplay."
The Stamp Act was intended to pay down debts the Crown incurred while defending English colonies during the exploration, colonization and defense of North America. Some of the wealthiest men in the colonies felt this was all terribly unfair...
I remember when I snapped a photo in DC of protesters at the Capitol during a Bush 43 SOTU. They wore large papier-mâché heads of W, Dick, Rummy...We ran it front page on the school paper. I got accused of photoshopping, and received a slew of bitchy emails from boomers about disrespecting America.
