Oh hell yeah!

This thread is delightful and also I am hereby staking a claim for a canoe excursion next time I'm in town and we can make the logistics align

Suuuper long shot but I don’t suppose any of the cambridge bike people who are seeing this might happen to have found a brand new pair of boots from REI that were left in the front basket of a blue bike that my other half docked in central square yesterday? 😅🙏

I would be a regular at all my local coffeeshops and an annually renewing member of every museum I've ever enjoyed, whenever possible at whatever level let me pop in for free whenever I felt like it

When we had to replace our tv this year, we specifically sought out a non-smart tv. At least in these parts, they do exist! Not too many of them, but still, they do. It connects to the Roku, the Roku connects to the wifi and the whole thing accords with our firm No Appliances That Spy On Us policy.

Cool cool cool love that! No problems ever here!

(I had mixed feelings about self checkout for the same reason as you, but ughhhhh, welp!)

Cosigning all of this, including the part where I've got a story in here too! If queer sword & sorcery sounds like fun to you, maybe consider checking it out!

Oh man yeah the problem is so real!!

In this case, I dressed reasonably, but it's right on the borderline between "warm but pleasant" and "way too hot for the delicate flower I am" -- sitting in the shade would have been lovely, but walking in the sun was nice until abruptly I was a puddle lol

entirely unrelatedly I'm sitting in the library clutching a liter of recently refrigerated coconut water to my bosom with great dignity

I've only been me for 40-odd years; how could I possibly learn from any past experiences on this front??

the distance between "it's a beautiful sunny spring day!!" and "help I'm an overheating sauna" is so tiny and paved with dumb choices about taking a little walk

Kaleidotrope opens to fiction and poetry submissions four weeks from today, from April 19 to 25. It's one of only three weeks this year that Kaleidotrope will be open to fiction and poetry submissions.

I grew up on Cincinnati chili (another delicious food on this map lol) so cinnamon + chili spices is a normal combo to me! Admittedly sugary cinnamon rolls + Tex-Mex style chili is not, and I'm a bit dubious, but I can wrap my head around the idea.

okay admittedly I did get so bewildered by sugar on snow being weird that it took me a minute to parse the "Terrible Maps" name, so perhaps. perhaps I have just pointed to the central joke here.

cider doughnuts??? sugar on snow?????

I don't think whoever compiled this map understands the word "weird"

Oh wow, that IS a twist! Congrats to the FedEx ninja, who may be in the wrong line of work but is certainly dedicating great skill to it.

(A Murder of Quality is just a murder mystery and I kept waiting for the spy stuff. That's Le Carré's second; haven't read the first, which does have more spying stuff and I should.)

I agree about Our Game! I've read an out-of-order scattering of Smileys and I do think The Spy Who Came in from the Cold is a good starting point & hits hard but does also feel like it expects you to know Smiley even though you don't actually have to.
