This was an hour from the state flagship university, three hours from the nation's capital and some of the richest suburbs in the country (NOVA).
This is not that far away. It reminded me of WV, where I'm from.
The depth of rural poverty is unfathomable to most people that have not seen it, and this is partly why I hold deep frustrations with 'mutual aid' as the basis of any political project.
