Here’s to the creators that inspire. Here’s to being able to shake their hand and say so, years later.

And here’s to the Mothership for the Tupperware vat of ROAD ROLLS she packed for after the show, incase we needed a wee snack. Honestly, protect that precious woman at all costs.

What I had never foreseen happening was performing alongside Simon McBurney at my final gig of last year, all thanks to the exquisite David Le Page ensemble and their sold out Winter Tales show. Another magical moment to add to my magnificent mnemonic memory bank.

17yrs later, I took myself on my own ‘Alice-esque’ pilgrimage, discovering more about the roots and fate of my maternal Gpa & family.

I made sure to be back to catch Complicité’s Mnemonic as it returned to the National Theatre. Deeply emotional viewing, alongside my oldest friend of 33 years. 🤍

In 2007 I was cast as Alice in a college production of Complicité’s Mnemonic. A gift to be introduced to the work of Simon McBurney and company, at such a formative age, and the possibilities of how theatre magic can be created and crafted.

I love words - they are the bows and staves that furnish the gymnasium of the mind. We learn words by rote, but not their meaning; that must be paid for with our life-blood, and printed in the subtle fibres of our nerves.
