Bail reform not only made New York more just, it also literally made it safer.
Too bad our elected leaders, public safety officials, and the overwhelming majority of the press are so deeply invested in a narrative entirely divorced from empirical reality.

Has New York Democratic Party chairman Jay Jacobs resigned over Mamdani yet? I hope he hasn't, so that he can instead resign over *improving Republican margins over Trump 2024 in an anti-Republican wave election*. Trump won Nassau by just 4%—now look at this bloodbath
The fact that he beat both Cuomo AND Adams in the same election makes it that much sweeter.
Governor next plz.
I won't it, too, though.
Fuckin guy voted for Trump 3 times while railing against bail reform and the Monroe County Dems are still THRILLED to call him one of theirs. The rot runs so deep.
centrists will tell you to your face that we all need to abandon identity issues, and focus on kitchen table issues instead and yet when a leftist candidate runs a generational campaign based on kitchen table issues, it's the centrists weaponizing identity politics to smear the leftist.
Ok, back to not posting for like 8 more months. Hope everyone who sees this is doing well.
Also of relevance: there's no legislation at stake! The centrists will just win formerly-disputed votes 5-0 instead of 4-1. So nothing of consequence will change - except the Board won't have that annoying progressive advocating for the people left behind.
This was worth $100K to them. Remarkable.
ONE HUNDRED THOUSAND DOLLARS! With everything Trump is doing to the country, that's what your Brighton Democrats -- with help from the always-abhorrent MCDC -- decided was worth spending their money on.
Joe Morelle jumped in, too, eager to punish a Black woman who primaried him a few years back.
Election Day!
Just an FYI for fellow Brighton residents: There's a very good reason that the entire Democratic ticket here was NOT endorsed by Working Families. And that reason is that they spent $100,000(!!!) to oust the most progressive member of the town board, Robin Wilt, earlier this year.
When you have a monopoly, you can do things like charge 15% more for electricity than you did a year ago. Absurd.
RGE bills absolutely brutal this winter. So glad we've got a county executive who prioritizes this Spanish-owned company rather than his constituents.
if you're STILL complaining about the left:
1 - the actual left has no institutional support or power
2 - many leftists working on actionable things are occupied trying to keep people the center abandoned alive
3 - are you maybe confusing "all leftists" with a poster who annoyed you one time?
God. I'm so sorry, Bills diehards. True empathy from this Mets fan who knows what these regular heartbreakers are like.
So rochester.com used to be owned by some erstwhile manufacturing company, but it seems they either sold the domain or let it lapse, because now it's this weird typo-laden blog that details a few select aspects of the city's history (like Buffalo Bill visiting here a few times). Who runs this page??
Had to Google that one -- I think I'd heard it once before. It's very good.
Top local jingles:

(Thus ends my first non-complainy Bluesky post. Happy to once again contribute to the shitpost universe.)
Ok, I'm finally here. First question: Is there any way to make the Desktop interface less hideous? Default appears to be the vertical mobile display with lots of open space on both sides.
