A lot of old industrial setups use wildly old systems, like straight up DOS. A guy I know set up a camera to read a single value off the screen of an ancient laptop running Windows 3.1 because it didn't have a phone jack, let alone a USB port. His advice is never buy American/Canadian cars btw haha

Toronto can end tents in parks: Here’s a city that solved street homelessness — and how we can do it too Helsinki started with a big homelessness problem and they've effectively solved it. Experts say their model could be adapted for Canada's largest city, if we're ready to be bold.

“Change is possible,” he said. “It’s not inevitable that people end up being homeless.” www.thestar.com/news/gta/tor...

Cambridge city councillor Corey Kimpson agrees with Dixon.

“We have to be good neighbours and get out there as soon as possible to remove the snow, remove the ice and make sure that our sidewalks are free and clear for everyone,” said Kimpson.

“That goes for people with small children, people with mobility devices, people trying to get through with strollers and even people who are otherwise able to pass on the snow. We don’t want someone to slip and go down and break something.”

Sure. Or we could, you know, take year-round sidewalk accessibility as seriously as we take driving accessibility (i.e. roads), and demand that the city take responsibility for clearing sidewalks. #SnowbilityWR www.therecord.com/news/waterlo...

We've got Harris' wee piggy in office now, protecting the Harris family investments.

Bill 124 was written to undermine public hospitals while making the owners of healthcare staffing agencies rich.

Mike Harris' wife, Lauren, happens to own one.

Harris pulled the same grift - made private LTC legal and then chaired the board of one of the worst.

Once the majority realizes that legacy media has zero credibility, owning legacy media will be worthless.

You see the same billionaires and their cling-ons out starting up "independent" platforms and publications these days. To get you again.

Ownership matters. Know who owns what you consume.

I found this a very helpful book for learning about sustaining radical organizing, both as an individual & as a collective. I think it is useful for any anticapitalist organizers, from anarchists to communists.

It's also available at Kitchener Public Library & some Little Free Libraries.

Again, I work at a housing not-for-profit that explicitly works on supporting unsheltered folks. Supporting them where they are at without judgement while advocating for more affordable housing and keeping people housed.

We are all closer to be unsheltered than we'd like to think.

Would be very neat to see this same graph reproduced for each economic sector to see which sectors growth in the imperial core has moved to (and which countries don't have it).

But I imagine your guesses are basically right

From some quick searching it seems ALSTOM has a quarter stake on ONExpress, but the Nova Scotia based Aecon has a quarter share too). I guess this change increases Canadian control of the services? (Although the biggest shareholder of ALSTOM is the Quebec Pension Plan so I'm not gleaning much)

Do you understand why they're bothering with the transfer of operations for GO? Is it merely technical/organizational reasons or money/political?

Emily and the rest of the Caroline Co-operative team did an incredible job! We are happy to have played a very small part by sharing our experiences and reviewing plans.

The Caroline Co-operative will definitely be a model for other tenant communities across Ontario!
