To have not had women with power and a diverse cast would have been untrue to the story Jordan created. Just because they were not mirror images of the book does not make it an inaccurate telling. Same story told in a different way.

House of the Dragon has diversity, more so than GoT did. And Rhaenyra and Alicent wield power in their own right as other female characters do. Personally I think that is nonsense. I think it is a bunch of made up stuff spread by a loud minority of fans. HotD and WoT are very different universes.
