Made in China by Changan Auto (the same company behind Deepal) so the underlying tech should be proven. I think this will be the way forward for the Japanese brands, it’s too expensive for them to build their own EVs from scratch and a made in Japan EV would never compete on price

Australians voted for stronger climate action, not weaker environment laws.

Australia Institute research shows that Australia is currently expanding gas and coal, with 94 new fossil fuel projects under development.

Sign our petition calling on Minister Watt to stop new gas and coal!

Four frames. Reporter with Albo. Frame 1: Reporter: “So, they get considerable control over our critical minerals sector…?” Albo: “Yep.” 2. Reporter: “…ensuring that we can keep paying them billions for submarines we may never get…” Albo: “That’s right”. Frame 3: Reporter:”…and we can ignore their slide into fascistic autocracy with no regard for the rule of law…?” Albo: “Uh-huh.” Frame 4: Reporter: “Astonishing.” Albo: “People often underestimate me.”

I lost significant money investing in Redflow an Australian Bromide flow battery developer and manufacturer. This was the sort of company that the Federal Govt should have been supporting, ASX listed and with lots of Aussie investors. I didn’t see a bailout to save them as they went into liquidation

I think it’s a $600,000,000 govt bailout over 3 years to support the jobs of 600 workers. Not many other industries would be supported to such a level. I can understand the need to have local capacity to smelt metals, but this is a hell of a cost

Two frames. 1: staffer enters office with Albo and Penny Wong, holding papers marked ASIO, says, “Turns out Iran was responsible for those antisemitic attacks on our soil…” Albo: “Expel the ambassador! Brand the regime terrorists!” 2: Same scene but different staffer holding DFAT papers, says, “Yet another Palestinian hospital bombed by Israel, 20 civilians and journalists killed…” Albo: “How many strongly worded statements will it take?!”

Tax breaks for huge, American-style utes cost the Australian government $250 million in 2023.

But it gets worse.

Emissions from passenger cars have fallen since 2005, but that drop was wiped out by the increased use of big utes. #auspol

I absolutely loved Halt and Catch Fire 🔥 I worked as a PC networking guy in the early days of Novell and Windows for Workgroups, and the themes in your show were so on point. One of the best TV shows in the last decade.

EV drivers set to pay road user charges as record number of electric cars selling in Australia PM says sustainable revenue for roads is needed as report shows nearly one in 10 new car sales are electric vehicles

I mean, if you’re worried about falling revenue, the govt could just stop giving away $10bn in fuel tax credits, which even the OECD says is just an industry subsidy that should be dumped.

Single frame. Trump holding in one hand a bag of money and in the other a toy sub marked AUKUS high out of reach of a child-sized Albo. Trump says: “On second thoughts, maybe it’s not the greatest deal ever…” Richard Marles running in from right holding a small ladder and another bag of money.

In the extraordinarily unlikely circumstance that (1) I’d ever been nominated for an AO (2) actually accepted the nomination and (3) been given that award, I would be even more ashamed of myself to have the same award as that festering bag of shit Scott Morrison.
