well, yes! Puedes usar texturas para cualquier cosa que use texturas. Siempre es bueno tener una librería y al final te sirven para varias cosas
Si quieres que una fuente de luz tenga algun efecto de sombras (por ejemplo, la luz pasando por la copa de un árbol, o los circulitos que hace la luz de una linterna, o las cáusticas del agua), le pones una de esas texturas para que proyecte la luz en ese patrón
